Who owns Buell Motorcycles?

Bill Melvin owns and operates Buell Motorcycle. As of 2021, we are back and here to stay. Now fully independent with bikes assembled by hand in our factory in Grand Rapids, MI, USA. All models feature the Buell 1190cc V-Twin engine.

Who makes the Buell 1190cc V-Twin engine?

Buell does, here in Grand Rapids, MI! Originally developed as the 1125cc V-Twin by Buell in partnership with Rotax manufacturing for AMA super sport road racing, the engine was brought in-house and transitioned to an 1190cc V-Twin engine in 2010.

Is Erik Buell still involved?

Erik Buell is no longer involved in Buell Motorcycles. He started an important legacy of American-built, high-performance motorcycles and we are proud to carry that forward.

What is Buell’s history with Harley-Davidson?

Buell is no longer affiliated with Harley-Davidson. The company split in 2009, and Erik Buell Racing was born then. The Buell brand was re-established in 2020, and we restarted production in 2021. We are fully independent and based out of Grand Rapids, MI.

Historical Buell model tooling and parts inventory was and is still controlled by Harley-Davidson. We do have some resources available to help with technical questions - please email questions to Tech@BuellMotorcycle.com.
