Information Density — The Lens

Classify each sentence as substantive or hollow. Grounding markers — numbers, currencies, dates, technical units, named entities — outweigh marketing adjectives. When fluff sits right next to hard evidence, the fluff is forgiven.

Info Density Power-words vs. Substance ratio.
26 Impact Weight: 30 / 100
87% Reputation

Information density is exceptionally high, particularly on sub-pages like /gasket-makers/ and /threadlockers/. The ratio of fluff to substance is skewed heavily toward substance, with body text containing precise technical parameters such as temperature ranges (-65 F to +450 F), bolt size specifications (#2 to 1.5 inches), and specific breakaway torque measurements (115/50 IN-LB). Headings are generally descriptive and functional, using terms like ‘Gasket Maker Solutions’ and ‘Select the Right Color’ rather than empty power words.

Information Density is read straight from the body copy: how much of the text carries grounded, checkable substance versus hollow filler. Below is the clean text the engine analyzed, then the industry’s known generic-claim patterns to weigh it against.

[H5] How to Select a Gasket Maker

[H2] Step 1 Select the Right Color

Permatex offers three colors of RTV Gasket Makers, Black, Grey, and Red. Each color has different product benefits for each application like added rigidity for high vibration areas or maximum flexibility for dissimilar metals.

[H2] Black

Permatex Black RTV Gasket Makers are highly flexible for use on dissimilar metals that heat and cool at different rates. It is important to have a flexible gasket with dissimilar metals to avoid tearing & over-expansion. Ideal for wide bolt patterns found in oil pans, timing covers, valve covers, transmission pans, and differential covers.

[H2] Grey

Permatex Grey RTV Gasket Makers are for rigid applications ideal for high vibration, tight tolerance and close bolt pattern applications. Ideal for valve covers, timing covers, water pumps, intake manifold end seals, and thermostat housings.

[H2] Red

Permatex Red RTV Gasket Makers can withstand high temperatures and extreme thermal cycling. Resistance to the cracking and shrinking within high temperature areas. Ideal for exhaust manifolds, turbochargers, slip-fit exhaust and headers.

[H2] Step 2 Choose Performance

Permatex offers three versions of RTV Gasket Makers, Ultra, Optimum, and The Right Stuff, all available in each color. Each version has different benefits for each type of user, from repair your daily driver oil pan to installing a turbo-charger on your race vehicle each option has specific benefits.

[H5] what to consider when choosing threadlockers

Blue Threadlocker

Red Threadlocker

Orange Threadlocker

[H5] Removability

Bolt removability is dependent on strength of hold needed & if you need easy access to remove the bolt in the future. High Strength requires the use of Heat to help remove the bolt.

[H5] Bolt Size

Size of the bolt impacts how much strength is needed to hold due to the contact area of the bolt & the threadlocker. A large bolt requires higher strength due to the large contact area.

[H5] Temperature

Temperature range the bolt may see impacts the melting point of thread-lockers. Threadlockers cure as a thremoset plastic and certain applications require higher temperature resistance than standard threadlockers resist.

[H5] Sealing

Some high vibration applications could benefit from both threadlocker and
thread sealant. Though the mixing of the two is not recommended, Permatex has Seal & Lock that has both thread sealant and threadlocker characteristics.

[H2] Frequently asked questions

Find answers to common questions about Threadlockers.

What color Threadlocker should I use?
The Threadlocker color should be chosen based on three key factors; Are you going to remove the bolt in the future? What is the diameter of the bolt? Will this bolt experience temperatures over 500 F? Medium Strength Blue Threadlocker is easiest to remove with hand tools. High Strength Removable Orange Threadlocker is 3x stronger than blue but can still be removed with hand tools. High Strength Red is for bolts you will not need to remove in the future as this can only be removed with localized heat.

What color Threadlocker should I use?
Permatex High Strength Removable Orange Threadlocker is a hybrid formula that combines the strength of Red threadlocker with the removability of Blue Threadlocker. Orange Threadlocker is ideal for modern day engine bays with a great deal of lightweight components and high vibration applications. Unlike traditional Red Threadlocker, Orange Threadlocker can be removed with hand tools when extra force is applied.

What is the cure time for threadlockers?
Threadlocker has a fixture time of approximately 20 minutes without a Primer/Activator (Surface Prep 24163), approximately 5 minutes with a Primer/Activator (Surface Prep 24163). Full time to cure is 24 hours

How do I remove bolts after using threadlocker?
For hand-tool removable threadlockers you should be able to just loosen the fasteners, If you are having issues loosening you may need to use heat on the connection. Heat the connection to approximately 450°F (232°C). If using High strength heat to remove, heat the connection to approximately 500°F (260°C) to break the bond.

Where should I use threadlocker?
We can use threadlocker on Active or Inactive metals. Inactive metals will need the use of a Primer/Activator (Surface Prep 24163). Threadlocker can be used on nuts, bolts, studs, housings, screws.

[H2] Common FAQs

How do you select a Brake Lubricant?
For a small to medium size car use Synthetic Brake Parts Lubricant on the metal-to-metal parts. Use Silicone Brake Parts Lubricant on any part that comes in contact with rubber. For a medium size to large size car/truck/SUV use Ceramic Brake Parts Lubricant on the metal-to-metal parts. Use Silicone Brake Parts Lubricant on any part that comes in contact with rubber. For Heavy Duty SUV’s, Trucks, Trailers, Performance Vehicles, Hybrid and Battery Electric Vehicles – Use Silicone Brake Parts Lubricant

Do I need to lubricate my brake system?
Yes, You need to lubricate the metal to metal moving parts in your brake system such as: Slide Pins, Bushings, Abutment clips where the pad rides, backing plates

Can you use any lubricant on Brakes?
No brake lubricant is required for brake systems and applications to withstand high temperatures that will burn, oxidize and add debris to the brake system and cause damage.

How much brake lubricant do I use?
You want to use a small amount or a thin layer on the parts. Using too much can get the lubricant in places where we do not want it and is a waste of lubricant.

Where should I avoid putting brake lubricant?
You should avoid getting lubricant on the friction surface of the brake pad or shoe, and the rotor or drum

What type of lubricant should I use to lubricate my brakes?
You want to use a lubricant specifically designed for brake systems. Brake lubricant needs to be high temperature and long lasting. Synthetic and Silicone are two of the most common types.
