(https://holcim.com) 📸 Data Snapshot: May 30, 2026Pull the main entities out of the H1, then check whether they actually recur through the body. A page that announces one thing and then talks about another drifts. Headings with no real sentences underneath read as pseudo-substance.
There is virtually zero semantic drift between the homepage signal and sub-page substance. The homepage H1 focuses on the 2026 AGM and sustainable growth, which is directly supported by the deep technical roadmaps found on the Climate Action and Nature sub-pages. The promise of being a leading partner in sustainable construction is backed by the detailed disclosure of SBTi-validated targets and specific biodiversity indicator systems.
Semantic Coherence is read from the heading hierarchy first: what each page announces in its H1 and headings, then whether the body actually delivers on it. Below is the structure the engine mapped, followed by the clean text to check for drift between promise and reality.

In doing so, we aligned the base year for all targets. Overall Net-Zero Target: Holcim commits to reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across the value chain by 2050. Short-term targets: Holcim is committed to reducing gross Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 24.95% per ton of cementitious materials by 2030 compared to the 2020 base year. This is equivalent to a 21% reduction in absolute emissions within the same timeframe. By 2030, Holcim is also committed to reducing gross Scope 3 GHG emissions per ton of purchased clinker and cement by 25.1% compared to the 2020 base year, and to reducing gross Scope 3 emissions from investments by 25.1% per ton of cementitious materials within the same timeframe. This target covers 66.9% of base year Scope 3 emissions from purchased goods and services (category 1) and 99.8% of Scope 3 emissions from investments (category 15). QUICK LINKS Nature policy Water directive Quarry rehabilitation and biodiversity directive ESG policies, documents and reports X [IMG: env_nature_dispatch_left_img20.jpg] Biodiversity Our commitment to a measurable positive impact on biodiversity is based on progressive transformative rehabilitation plans and measured by the Biodiversity Indicator and Reporting System (BIRS) – a scientific methodology developed in partnership with the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). [IMG: water_kpi_4_32.jpg] Water Freshwater is a finite resource, and we aim to reduce freshwater intensity throughout our operations. We are prioritizing our actions in high water risk areas, tailoring our solutions to local conditions. [IMG: bioactive concrete] Marine preservation As part of our commitment to nature, we are helping protect our oceans and marine biodiversity through industry-leading products, solutions and innovations. Holcim takes a measurable science-driven approach to nature from our biodiversity indicator system all the way to our freshwater ecosystems, while also bringing more nature into cities. Working with leading nature conservation organizations like IUCN, we aim to strengthen our impact for a nature-positive future. Renata Pollini | HEAD OF SUSTAINABLE CONSTRUCTION AND NATURE AT HOLCIM We’re pleased to see companies like Holcim leading the way by publicly adopting the world’s first science-based targets beyond climate, demonstrating that a clear and credible pathway for ambitious action for nature is possible. ERIN BILLMAN | Executive Director, Science Based Targets Network Partnerships and engagements to optimize impact Leveraging public policy and incentives Publications We support an active role for businesses in enhancing nature. Partnerships with biodiversity experts are crucial to optimize our impact. We advocate collaboration that accelerates action.Holcim was selected by the Science Based Targets Network (SBTN) to pilot the world's first science based targets for nature. We were among the first 17 companies – and the only one in our sector – in this pilot. This global initiative aims to set the world’s first standards for ambitious and measurable corporate action for nature. As of 2024, Holcim is one of the first three companies worldwide to adopt science-based targets for nature. We continue to demonstrate our rigorous science-driven approach to nature and commitment to preserve and restore freshwater ecosystems by setting 3 more SBTN freshwater targets in 2025. In total we have now 4 SBTN validated targets and we will now focus on delivering on them. The "Call to Action of Business for Nature", brings together influential organizations and forward-thinking businesses seeking to reverse nature loss. Through this platform, we aim to positively influence policymakers who are discussing international agreements on nature and climate change. Renata Pollini, Holcim’s Head of Sustainable Construction & Nature, is part of the Business for Nature’s Strategic Advisory Group, supporting them to set directions and prioritize actions. We entered a three-year partnership with the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) in 2023 to preserve nature and advance nature-positive development in the built environment. “Catalysing biodiversity on buildings”, our paper written in collaboration with Second Nature Ecology and Design and published by IUCN, outlines initiatives from eight European cities that are scaling biodiversity on buildings. IUCN is supporting us with identifying ways to increase biodiversity levels at our quarries, strengthening and updating our BIRS methodology and advising on the protection of freshwater resources. IUCN will also support us in driving and promoting the inclusion of biodiversity into existing and future building standards. We are a signatory of the CEO Water Mandate and the WASH pledge strengthening our water stewardship commitments. We believe businesses have an active role to play in providing solutions for nature. Nevertheless, public policies are key to accelerate actions in this decade to reverse nature loss. For biodiversity, we support the establishment of mandatory rehabilitation requirements in all countries. Those requirements should encourage ecosystem restoration including: High-diversity fauna and floraRestoration based on endemic speciesContinuity with neighboring natural landscapes and spacesProgressive rehabilitation, i.e. rehabilitation taking place simultaneously with extraction work Incentives can facilitate the protection of endangered species, particularly in biodiversity sensitive areas. For a greater impact on freshwater reduction, government mandates and incentives are necessary to promote investment in technologies for rain harvesting, optimization of water use in processes, and affordable low-carbon energy desalination.
