Information Density — The Lens

Classify each sentence as substantive or hollow. Grounding markers — numbers, currencies, dates, technical units, named entities — outweigh marketing adjectives. When fluff sits right next to hard evidence, the fluff is forgiven.

Info Density Power-words vs. Substance ratio.
16 Impact Weight: 30 / 100
53% Reputation

The site exhibits a bifurcated density profile. The Operations section provides high-substance metrics, citing 800,000 gross acres of mineral rights and 53 trillion cubic feet of reserves. Conversely, the Our Compass section is saturated with fluff headings like Professionalism – Strive for excellence and Loyalty – Loyal to corporation, which provide zero specific information and rely on power words. This results in a moderate density score where hard operational data is surrounded by corporate platitude filler.

Information Density is read straight from the body copy: how much of the text carries grounded, checkable substance versus hollow filler. Below is the clean text the engine analyzed, then the industry’s known generic-claim patterns to weigh it against.

We are a company that pursues excellence, values innovation and is ever-diligent about the safety of our people. Everyone who works on our sites is responsible for both their own safety, and the safety of those around them. And everyone who works for our company is expected to uphold the respect we have for the environment.
Our current operations are all within the North Montney basin in northeast British Columbia. With a dominant land position in that resource-rich area, we are one of the largest natural gas resource owners in Canada. Together with our joint venture partners, we own more than 800,000 gross acres of mineral rights with 53 trillion cubic feet of reserves and contingent resources.
As the operator of a large joint venture in the North Montney, we are focused on developing the resource safely and responsibly.

Established in 2013, the North Montney Joint Venture (NMJV) is between PETRONAS Energy Canada Ltd., MidOcean Upstream Holdings L.P., Sinopec Huadian Montney Limited Partnership, Indoil Montney Ltd., and BE Montney Holdings Limited. To date, the NMJV has drilled over 750 wells.
Current technology allows each pad to access approximately 16 wells and as our industry continues to innovate the number of wells being accessed from a single pad continues to climb, further reducing the surface footprint.

Building the Future, Together: PETRONAS’ participation in LNG Canada
Located in Kitimat, British Columbia, in the traditional territory of the Haisla Nation, LNG Canada is the country’s first large-scale LNG export facility. It is a long-life asset that will initially export LNG from two processing units or “trains” with a combined capacity of 14 million tonnes per annum (mtpa).

LNG Canada marked the start of operations with its first cargo on June 30, 2025. We celebrated another important milestone shortly after, with PETRONAS’ first LNG shipment departing the facility on July 7, 2025. Strategically located on Canada’s west coast and connected to our upstream gas assets in northeast British Columbia, LNG Canada offers a direct and efficient shipping corridor to key North Asian markets including Japan, South Korea and China. With LNG Canada now operational, we are supplying the plant with up to 500 million cubic feet per day of natural gas.

[H4] PETRONAS Canada Celebrates Women in Leadership with Inaugural Event

October, 2025
If you had 10 minutes with a female leader in Canada’s energy industry, what would you ask?

PETRONAS Canada recently provided this opportunity at the inaugural Women in Leadership
Networking Event. Co-hosted by the company’s Sustainability team and the PETRONAS
Canada Women’s Network, the event brought a diverse group of women from across the
organization together with five senior women leaders for a morning of learning and
connection.

[H5] Fostering a Just Transition through inclusion

Within PETRONAS’ global Sustainability Approach, one of the key components is Fostering a
Just Transition, which includes a focus on inclusion. In alignment with this focus, PETRONAS
Canada has set a sustainability ambition within its Sustainability Strategy that a minimum
of 30
percent of leadership roles in the organization should be held by women.
"Partnering with the PETRONAS Canada Women’s Network to offer this networking session
was a natural fit," explains Desiree Spence, Manager, Sustainability at PETRONAS Canada.
"The guiding pillars of Community, Empowerment, Skills development, and Resources align well
with our ongoing sustainability work; especially in support of Fostering a Just Transition.
We know that strong relationships are essential for career growth and satisfaction, and we
were
very pleased to help cultivate some of those connections at this event."
Over the course of two hours, 20 women – all at various stages in their careers –
participated in
small-group conversations with each leader. The 10-minute discussions touched on work-life
balance, career progression guidance, career learnings, and a range of other topics. The
feedback from participants was positive, with many noting their appreciation for the unique
opportunity to connect with women leaders at the company in an intimate setting.

Participant feedback highlights:

"The smaller 'break-out' groups allowed for more intimate discussions and
accommodated the more reserved personalities...I appreciated the openness, honesty
and candidness of the leaders."

"PETRONAS Canada has set high standards by having many outstanding women at the
executive level. This was the best opportunity to hear from these leaders about what’s
behind their success."

"I learned several tips and tricks for communication that I am excited to implement."

"The success of this event has spurred requests from employees and leaders alike for
additional sessions," adds Desiree. "The Sustainability team and Women’s Network committee are looking
forward to offering future networking events like this one to strengthen connections and
support
inclusion in the organization."

Thank you to the following PETRONAS Canada leaders for participating in the Women in
Leadership Networking Event:

[H4] Employees take to airwaves for fundraiser

Going the extra mile for causes that matter to them is something employees have been doing for years.

People in and around Fort St. John (FSJ) heard four of our employees on the radio earlier this month and it wasn’t for the launch of their debut single. These employees stepped up with their voices to encourage others in the community to donate to the FSJ Hospital Foundation’s annual “Have a Heart” Radiothon.

Organizers of the foundation’s 19th radiothon campaign had set a goal of raising $35,000 to fund the purchase of obstetric probes that will be use with the portable ultrasound machine in the birthing centre.

PETRONAS Canada, previously Progress Energy, has been a supporter of the FSJ Hospital Foundation for as long as we’ve been operating in the area. Since 2012, the company has donated more than $140,000 to the foundation helping ensure resources are available to purchase medical, diagnostic and surgical equipment for patients who rely on the hospital for care and treatment.

“This year, instead of simply writing a cheque, we thought we could encourage others to join us in supporting such a vital organization,” says Shannon Young, Director, External Affairs. “Four of our employees recorded brief messages that played several times on the local radio station leading up to the radiothon, explaining that PETRONAS Canada would match the first $10,000 raised.”

Between the amount raised by callers during the radiothon on June 17 and PETRONAS Canada’s match, the FSJ Hospital Foundation raised $46,000.

The FSJ Hospital Foundation is just one of the many charitable groups that PETRONAS Canada supports in the areas where we live and work. Employees are ardent supporters of charities and non-profits too. In fact, in addition to choosing to support charities through donations of time and money, every employee can request PETRONAS donate $250 to a charity that is important to them.

[H4] Standing up to hatred and racism and banding together through tragedy

I'm growing weary of reading headlines, where we learn of more heartbreaking acts of hatred, racism, and tragedy. I’m thinking about all our colleagues, and everyone around the world, who are part of the Islamic faith. The news out of London, Ontario is appalling and has left me exasperated. To target someone – and in this case a whole family – based on their religion is beyond comprehension. Despite what many want to believe, racism in Canada is still prevalent.

On behalf of the PETRONAS Canada Leadership Team, I want to reinforce that discrimination, racism and hate have no place in Canada. Last week I shared internally a message about the Kamloops Residential school tragedy. I wrote about the ccollective responsibility we have to access learning opportunities, to have challenging conversations with our friends and families, and to press forward in ensuring moments like this are not lost to time. The same holds true after this latest tragedy.

Last year I signed a statement issued by the Business Council of British Columbia that denounced the rise in racist attacks in B.C. during the pandemic. I recently saw a stat that indicated that more than half of Asian Canadians have experienced discrimination in the past year. The problem is not going away. We can – and must – do better individually and as a nation.

In my role as CEO I’ve had the opportunity to build relationships Muslim colleagues in Malaysia, here in Canada and around the world. Part of that includes learning about their culture, religion and belief systems. At the top of my learnings is that the Islamic faith is peaceful, compassionate and spiritual.

As we continue to face unprecedented challenges in Canada and around the world, I encourage people to find appropriate resources, like the ones below, to assist with struggles and understanding.

[H4] Our continued commitment to the community during crisis

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, charitable organizations have been deeply impacted.
This year, given the immediate, rising community needs, we donated $50,000, each, to the United Way of Northern BC and to the United Way of Calgary and Area to support their COVID-19 relief and response activities.

🧭 Industry Context — common generic-claim patterns in Energy, Utilities & Environmental Services to weigh the text against
Generic Claims: powering a sustainable future, saving the planet, affordable green energy, leading the energy transition, committed to net zero, cleaner energy for everyone…
Red Flags: no regulatory license number displayed, green claims without fuel mix disclosure, net zero claims without reduction pathway, carbon offset only strategy presented as carbon neutral, no Ombudsman membership for dispute resolution, hidden exit fees and contract terms…
Semantic Drift Patterns: homepage claims 100% renewable but tariff page shows mixed sources, green branding everywhere but sustainability report shows minimal renewable share, claims affordable but pricing is above market average, net zero commitment on homepage but no carbon reduction timeline…
Proof Expectations: Ofgem or regulatory license number, published fuel mix disclosure, specific carbon reduction targets with timelines, third-party sustainability certifications, published tariff rates with comparison data, complaints handling data and Ombudsman membership…
