Information Density — The Lens

Classify each sentence as substantive or hollow. Grounding markers — numbers, currencies, dates, technical units, named entities — outweigh marketing adjectives. When fluff sits right next to hard evidence, the fluff is forgiven.

Info Density Power-words vs. Substance ratio.
18 Impact Weight: 30 / 100
60% Reputation

The Midstream page is a substance outlier, containing hard metrics like 70,000+ miles of U.S. pipeline and 889,000 BPD of fractionation capacity, explicitly citing the 2024 Form 10K. In contrast, the Homepage H1 ‘Providing Energy.Improving Lives.’ is pure abstraction with a 100% fluff-to-noun ratio. The Careers page body text relies on generic power words such as ‘thrive and grow’ and ‘high-performing workforce’ without specific employee retention rates or unique program names. However, the presence of specific project names like ‘Iron Mesa’ and ‘Rodeo Renewable Energy Complex’ provides necessary substance.

Information Density is read straight from the body copy: how much of the text carries grounded, checkable substance versus hollow filler. Below is the clean text the engine analyzed, then the industry’s known generic-claim patterns to weigh it against.

📝 The Narrative — clean text per page (the substance-vs-filler signal)

[H1] Midstream

[H2] From crude oil to feedstocks, or refined and specialty products, our Midstream operations are essential to our value chain.
Our business is focused on three primary areas: crude oil and refined products, natural gas gathering and processing, NGL transportation and fractionation.
The integration of DCP Midstream, a major processor of natural gas and one of the largest U.S. producers and marketers of NGLs, bolsters Phillips 66’s already strong position in the latter.

🧭 Industry Context — common generic-claim patterns in Energy, Utilities & Environmental Services to weigh the text against
Generic Claims: powering a sustainable future, saving the planet, affordable green energy, leading the energy transition, committed to net zero, cleaner energy for everyone…
Red Flags: no regulatory license number displayed, green claims without fuel mix disclosure, net zero claims without reduction pathway, carbon offset only strategy presented as carbon neutral, no Ombudsman membership for dispute resolution, hidden exit fees and contract terms…
Semantic Drift Patterns: homepage claims 100% renewable but tariff page shows mixed sources, green branding everywhere but sustainability report shows minimal renewable share, claims affordable but pricing is above market average, net zero commitment on homepage but no carbon reduction timeline…
Proof Expectations: Ofgem or regulatory license number, published fuel mix disclosure, specific carbon reduction targets with timelines, third-party sustainability certifications, published tariff rates with comparison data, complaints handling data and Ombudsman membership…
