Each bespoke suit designed and assembled at our store goes through a rigorous process to ensure diversity, uniqueness, and prestige when you walk in that suit.

Starting from a single bespoke suit over a century ago, we have grown to one of the leading tailors located on the world-class Savile Row.
Over the years, we have dressed leading public figures, members of the British Royal family, successful businessmen, and clients worldwide.

[H1] The process begins with the selection of the cloth, with the choice of thousands of designs, weights and qualities. The cutter will discuss and advise to create a defining style for the individual which will also be taken into account in the creation of the paper pattern.

[H2] Our Story
[H2] History spanning over a century
Welsh and Jefferies opened in the early twentieth century on Eton High Street, and during the First World War, the company built a reputation as a formidable military tailor. The firm made uniforms for the officers of many regiments, such as the Rifle Brigade and the Coldstream Guards.
Famous for producing Winston Churchill's uniform in is early military years.​
In 1999, Welsh and Jefferies acquired Lesley and Roberts who had established an impressive
clientele list of both diplomats and aristocrats.
​In 1990, H.R.H. the Prince of Wales confirmed Welsh and Jefferies pedigree as a military tailor when he appointed the firm with his Royal Warrant as a sole military tailor

Creating suits based off traditionWelsh and Jefferies is a small but neat shop situated at number 20 Savile Row.
In January 2012 the business was taken over by James Cottrell who has been working at Welsh and Jefferies for several years and his partner Yingmei Quan.
​James Cottrell started his career in Kilgour at the age of 16. In the early 1980s, James left Kilgour for a position in Tommy Nutter&'s workshop which lasted 5 years. He then spent 18 years working at Henry Poole before accepting the position as head Cutter at Welsh and Jefferies.​
Yingmei Quan is a junior partner at Welsh and Jefferies. In 2011 she won the Golden Shears competition which enhanced her reputation as one of the better female cutters on Savile Row. She then started to attract her own female client base to the company and to this day it is ever-growing.Return to Top

Our recently added made to measure option is accessible to a wider customer base.
This option is extremely high quality with a faster finish. Made to measure involves one meeting for measurements and the choosing of cloth.Collection
