Both planned and active work will be listed to support advanced awareness and day-to-day planning.
Power outages are not listed on this page, as BC Hydro communicates current outage information through its outage map. Additionally, day-to-day provincial highway conditions are typically provided by DriveBC.  However, prolonged or coordinated Highway 4 construction projects that may affect the community will be included here for awareness.

Location: Main Street between Third and Fourth Street

Friday, May 22, 2026 | 2 PM – 10 PM
Friday, May 29, 2026 | 8 AM – 4 PM
Details:The District will be completing scheduled watermain tie-ins as part of the Main Street Watermain Improvement Project. This work is required to connect a new watermain to the existing system and will result in temporary water outages.
Properties near the construction area may experience temporary water outages lasting approximately 3–5 hours during these work periods.
Properties along Main Street and surrounding areas may also experience brief service disruptions.
Limited vehicle access to the Fourth Street Dock and Boat Launch should also be expected during construction activities on May 22.

Main Street Watermain Improvements | April - June 2026

Location: Main Street between Fourth Street and Third Street
Dates: April 27 - June 2026
Details: The Main Street Watermain Improvements Project is replacing aging underground water infrastructure to improve reliability, reduce leaks, and support Tofino’s long-term water security goals.
One-way traffic in place during the majority of construction hours (Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM)
Two-way traffic closures may be required at times
Two-way traffic resumes outside construction hours
Pedestrian access remains open
Parking impacts expected
Businesses remain open
Planned water shutoffs will be communicated directly to impacted properties

Multi-Use Path Upgrades | March - May 2026

Location: Between 830 & 960 Campbell Street
Dates: March 25 to mid-May 2026.
Details: The District of Tofino is undertaking improvements to a key section of the Multi-Use Path (MUP) to enhance safety, accessibility, and overall user experience.
The Multi-Use Path will be closed daily from 7 AM to 5 PM within the construction area and will reopen each evening after 5 PM. Users should expect uneven or loose gravel surfaces during this time. Traffic control personnel and signage will be in place to safely direct pedestrians and cyclists around the work zone.
A northbound lane closure will be in place on Campbell Street within the work zone. Traffic will be managed as single-lane alternating, with delays expected to be less than 5 minutes
