The Air Conditioning Company was formed in 1986 after CEO Jeff Salmon had discovered the popularity of portable air conditioners in Asia. Mobile units had never been seen in the UK, so Jeff took a gamble on the infamous ‘British summer’ and ordered the best-quality units he could find.

Our wide range of portable air conditioners for hire will efficiently and quickly cool down bedrooms, living rooms, shops, offices and server rooms. Whether for Commercial, Industrial or Residential use, our portable units can be rented for a period of your choosing throughout the year. All of our mobile air conditioners have an extending hose exhaust (similar to a tumble-dryer hose) that quickly expels the hot humid air in the area to be cooled through the gap of a slightly opened window and replacing the stale air with freshly refrigerated air. Should you not have windows, some of our units can be vented into a suspended ceiling, and we also offer a wide range of evaporative coolers and fans, our expert team can advise you which will suit your particular area best. Our friendly team will advise you not only what portable unit to rent but will ensure that you choose the most economical method. For example, long-term air conditioning hire can cost as little as £7 per week. Avoid the summer heat by hiring one or more of our portable air cooling units. Expect delivery on the same working-day in London when you place your order before 2 pm.

The most common issues we get asked to resolve are when a unit is dripping water. The main reasons a unit may leak are that it has not been serviced or the condensate pump has failed. This type of repair is nearly always completed within the first hour on site, making it a fairly simple repair. [H2] Not Cooling
If the unit turns on but doesn't produce either cool or warm air, it might have a gas leak. The aircon system will need inspecting to find the leak and repair it. We can test the pipework and vacuum the system to remove any air or moisture before filling it with the correct amount and type of refrigerant. [H2] No Power
When the units appear to be dead and nothing shows on the wall controller, check your main fuse board to ensure it hasn't tripped. You can also check the electrical isolator, located next to the outdoor unit, to ensure it is in the on position. If both of these items appear okay, then you will need an air conditioning engineer to attend the site and diagnose the potential problem. Often, it's a simple fix, but if the system requires parts, we will always provide a written quotation before proceeding, ensuring that you don't receive an unexpected repair bill.

[H2] Noisy Unit
If the outdoor unit is making more noise than usual, it might require a replacement fan motor. The same applies to the indoor unit. The condensate pump, which removes moisture from the system, may also be at fault. When it starts to fail, it can become noisy. Air conditioning units recirculate the air within the room. Therefore, smells and odours build up on the cooling coils. The system removes moisture from the atmosphere, and consequently, a build-up of bacteria can occur that can only be removed with specialist chemicals. The systems come pre-charged with refrigerant gas and should not require a top-up unless a leak has occurred in the system. Having the air conditioning system regularly serviced will help maintain its optimum performance. [H2] How Much Does an Aircon Repair Cost?
We diagnose the majority of breakdowns within the first hour, so it's unusual for you to pay more than our initial call-out charge. In rare instances where a call-out exceeds one hour, additional time is charged only in half-hour increments. If we are unable to repair the fault at the first diagnostic visit, for example, because parts are required or our engineers need several hours to carry out the repairs, we will quote for the repairs at a subsequent visit.
The main cost of a major air conditioning repair is, more often than not, the cost of the spare parts themselves. On occasion, our engineers recommend that it may be more cost-effective to replace the entire system, specifically if the unit is ancient or contains R22 refrigerant gas, which was banned some years ago and cannot be used to re-commission AC systems.
It has been our experience that 60% to 70% of air conditioner breakdowns that require a call-out are avoidable, as the faults have been a direct result of poor routine AC maintenance.
