[H2] Benefits of UPVC Cladding
Home owners, business owners and construction companies prefer uPVC to alternative building materials.  Using wood as a cladding material is no longer practical. Timber cladding tends to rot and is expensive and time consuming to maintain.
When we consider the protection uPVC provides, a greater understanding for the value of this building material is understood.  uPVC is exceptionally durable and attractive, while resistant to even the worst weather, insects, vermin and fire. It will never rot and you will never need to paint it.  Also, uPVC can be recycled up to 10 times, which reduces its carbon imprint.
[H2] Varieties of BBA Approved Cladding Products
All of our cladding products are British Board of Agreement (BBA) approved and come with our twenty year guarantee on white cladding and ten year guarantee on cladding of other colours. The British Board of Agrement has been responsible for inspecting and approving construction products since 1966.  It has a history of providing reassurance to specifiers, end users and insurance providers, and is a name the public has grown to trust.
At Summit, we will remove your existing cladding and check that the timber battening behind it is sound.  If necessary, we will replace it with tannalised battens (strips of timber or metal that are treated with a weather proofing substance known as Tanalin.) We have different types of cladding available, from 4 inch to 6 inch shiplap designs and you can choose from white, black, wood-grain or oak colours.

[H2] What Are Soffits, Fascias and Bargeboards?
Fascias are attached to the roof trusses. They are boards that run horizontally along the top of the exterior walls and help to support the gutters, which can be heavily strained from gallons of rainwater. The soffits are boards that connect at a right angle to the fascia and are often ventilated to prevent a build up of condensation within the roof eaves.  Soffits will help to keep your roof’s overhang in perfect condition.
Bargeboards attach to the projecting edges or gables of a roof. A roof typically projects beyond the surface of a building, which would otherwise leave the edges of the timber unprotected from weather and rot.  They can be simple or detailed in style and design.

Our wide range of fascias are perfect for replacing old boards. They come in a variety of colours, finishes and moulding designs to suit all needs and will be precisely cut to fit your individual property. A gutter is a narrow trough or duct attached beneath the roof eaves of a building. Its purpose is to gather and funnel rainwater away from the structure of a building in order to prevent weather damage. Gutters are also interchangeably referred to as ‘guttering systems’.

The integrity of your gutters is important for several reasons.  Your blocked or leaky gutters can have a major impact on your home!  When blocked, gutters can flood water into the property, causing thousands in water damage.

Concrete guttering was used most during the 1950’s-1970 and is also known as Finlock guttering.  Several problems can occur from concrete guttering including leaks in the mortar and movement of the concrete blocks which can lead to sagging above window frames, leaks, damp, cold and rot within your home.
By the time problems are assessed, thousands of pounds worth of damage can exist within the ceilings, wall cavities and basements within your home. Canopies have experienced a resurgence in the UK; with more and more home owners opting for the classic elegance of bespoke tiling.
We use fired clay or coloured concrete tiles, depending on your preference and budget.  There are a number of shapes and sizes to choose from.  Many of our homeowners choose to match their existing roof tiles to their canopy tiling, for a fluid, clean look.
[H2] The Summit Cladding Initial Process
We take precise measurements, meet with you and discuss your needs and preferences.  Owner Stephen Gelb, who attends each initial meeting, will point out any practical considerations as well as ask questions to get an idea of the type of bespoke canopy you envision.  He will show you a range of material samples as well as images of some of the bespoke tiling work we’ve performed.  You will receive a written estimate and time to consider the project.  There is never any obligation to begin work.

Our bespoke tiled door canopies begin with a hand-built timber frame and are created to the exact style and shape specifications you have requested.  We create a variety of canopies that extend above the doorway of your home, or canopies that protect larger areas.  We also build bespoke door canopies that shelter the patio, so that you can fully enjoy your garden with protection from the sun and rain.  Additionally our canopies can be built above car parks to protect vehicles from harsh weather and to provide a refuge for you when entering and exiting your vehicle.
Features of our bespoke tiled door canopies include soffits, fascias, and a variety of gallows brackets and bargeboards.  We can offer columns with pilasters and fluting, or a simpler design.  Lights can be installed in the soffits for added security and practicality.
