Semantic Coherence: PlanetScale, Inc. – Signal Evidence & AI Readability

Semantic Coherence β€” The Lens

Pull the main entities out of the H1, then check whether they actually recur through the body. A page that announces one thing and then talks about another drifts. Headings with no real sentences underneath read as pseudo-substance.

Semantic Coherence Homepage promise vs. Sub-page reality.
20 Impact Weight: 20 / 100
100% Reputation

There is zero detectable drift between the homepage signal and sub-page substance. The H1 promise of scalable cloud databases is backed by a granular pricing page with clear resource-based tiers ($5 to $50+) and a documentation index that details horizontal sharding architectures. The technical depth is consistent from the hero section through to the deeper documentation pages.

Semantic Coherence is read from the heading hierarchy first: what each page announces in its H1 and headings, then whether the body actually delivers on it. Below is the structure the engine mapped, followed by the clean text to check for drift between promise and reality.

The graph above displays the p50, p95, and p99 change after moving a database to Metal. See more benchmarks on our Benchmarking page.We are very happy with our decision to migrate to PlanetScale Metal which enabled us to achieve the rare outcome of improvements in performance, cost, and reliability – a win for our customers and our business.– Aaron Young @ Cash App
[H2] Uptime
Ensuring your database is always running and your data is always safe is our number one priority. Nothing comes before uptime and reliability. Our SLA commitment is 99.999% for multi-region deployments and 99.99% for single-region deployments.PlanetScale’s platform far exceeds the reliability of database services like Amazon Aurora/RDS and Google Cloud SQL with superior architecture and by making all database operations online.Deploy schema changes fully onlineRevertable schema changes (with zero data loss)Directing traffic to new read-only replicasOnline MySQL and Vitess version updatesOnline cluster resizing and reshardingYou can check out our track record on our status page.We knew how deeply the PlanetScale team understands database services, and they were literally the only team we trusted enough to consider leaving behind Aurora.– Jamie Turner, Founder & CEO @ Convex

MySQL-compatible databases with horizontal sharding. Pricing based on cluster size, VTGate configuration, and storage. Metal also available.
[H3] Pricing factors
Pay as you go β€” Pay month to month based on the price in the calculator above. The main factors that determine your price are:Instance and VTGate sizesStorage amount β€” First 10 GB included, and then $0.50 per GB per instance. We require a minimum of 3 instances for production branches to ensure high availability. Storage costs are included for Metal instances.Add-ons β€” Additional development branch hours, SSO, upgraded supportFor the full list of features and more information, see our plans documentation.
[H2] Enterprise
Our Enterprise plan comes with all of the same platform features you get with the Base plan, but also includes upgraded levels of support and additional deployment options:Bring your own cloud β€” For enterprise companies or those with strict compliance policies that require your data to remain in your own cloud, we also offer PlanetScale Managed. This allows us to deploy PlanetScale into an AWS or GCP account that you own and we manage.Upgraded support β€” All Enterprise plans come with Business support and the option to upgrade to Enterprise support. The Enterprise support option is only available on Enterprise plans and gives you access to our team’s database architecture expertise through a shared Slack channel and bi-weekly meetings. Additionally, 15 minute response time for P1 tickets.
[H3] PlanetScale Managed pricing model
If you choose to deploy PlanetScale in your own AWS or GCP account, the required infrastructure is spun up in your account, and you are billed by your cloud provider for those infrastructure costs. This allows you to take advantage of the PlanetScale platform (branching, deploy requests, query monitoring, etc) in your own private environment. On top of the infrastructure fees that you pay directly to your cloud provider, you will pay a percentage of that cost to PlanetScale for the use of PlanetScale, infrastructure management, migration assistance, and ongoing support. For companies with existing AWS or GCP agreements, this option sometimes ends up less expensive than running on PlanetScale’s infrastructure, as you can take advantage of your AWS or GCP discounts for these infrastructure costs.
[H3] When do I need Enterprise?
If you need any of the following, Enterprise may be the best solution for you:Enterprise support β€” Shared Slack channel with our team and bi-weekly meetings where you can discuss database performance, optimizations, and more. You need hands-on evaluation and migration assistanceYou need your database deployed in a single-tenant environmentYou need a PCI DSS certified service providerYou need to keep your data in your own AWS or GCP accountAny other customizations β€” Our Enterprise plan offers a lot of flexibility, so if you have a requirement that’s not listed here, it’s best to reach out and we can see how we can help.
