is engineered and patented to eliminate the molding around an individual outlet and uses module grouping to fit more outlets into the same space. HDOT outlets require less space than standard PDU outlets, allowing for maximum outlets in a 42U PDU.One pair of PX4 PDUs with HDOT outlets evenly distributed across the PDU can accommodate dense configurations where three or four PDUs would have been necessary.

TranscriptMost data center power applications require three-phase power to deliver enough power density to support today’s heavy workloads.To better facilitate the use of three-phase power, the alternating branch outlet technology built into Raritan rack PDUs, groups outlets into branches on a repeating and easily distinguishable pattern over the entire length of the PDU.Alternating branch power notably simplifies load balancing and the power distributed from the PDU. When installing equipment, select the next branch on the PDU to simplify device installation, keeping patch cables shorter and away from the airflow path, and lessen out-of-balance loads that can cause heating in the neutral current line. Certain custom Raritan PX4 three-phase models feature alternating power phases on a per-outlet basis rather than per-branch.

TranscriptRaritan’s rack PDUs monitor multiple power metrics in real-time to efficiently use power resources and avoid downtime brought on by power quality fluctuations or overloaded circuits.Raritan advanced metering features provide detailed and granular power utilization data through continuous AC sampling of several power parameters, including neutral voltage and current dips, swells, and harmonic distortion. Minimum, maximum, and average measurements are captured with 0.5% metering accuracy. Metering measurements are retrievable using Xerus firmware, SNMP, or JSON APIs or in conjunction with DCIM or BMS software.

TranscriptCurrent and voltage total harmonic distortion is now measured at the infeed power to the PDU and at the PDU’s outlets.For example, Harmonics are typically created by a server’s switched mode power supply and are often present at the PDU’s outlets load. They can disrupt power quality, leading to increased electrical usage and power fluctuations, and can indicate a problem in the server’s power supply.Improve uptime by conducting continuous power quality measurements―like harmonics monitoring and alerting. With this feature, you can monitor for harmonic events, voltage dips and swells, crest factor, and more on the power being fed to the PDU or distributed to the PDU’s outlets or load. Raritan rack PDU harmonic measurements elevate your cabinet-level power quality monitoring and help to prevent problems before they occur.
