Customers can visit the Vodafone website, contact customer care or visit any
Vodafone store for assistance.

What happens if I do not upgrade before the shutdown?

2G only phones will stop working completely. Customers
will not be able to make calls, send messages, use data or reach emergency
services until they upgrade. These phones will also no longer work overseas in
countries where 2G has already been switched off.

I do not use the internet. Why do I still need to change my phone?

This change is not about internet use. The 2G signal itself is being
switched off. Once that signal is gone, 2G phones will show no service and will
not be able to make calls, send texts or contact emergency services. Newer
phones use a different system to make calls, which old 2G phones cannot
support.

Are there simple button phones that will still work?

Yes. There are 3G and 4G button phones available. Vodafone will also offer special deals and discounted replacement phones. More details are available through the provided device link.

Do I need to change my SIM card as well?

Some customers may need a new SIM. Newer networks require newer SIM cards.
If your SIM card says 4G, LTE or 5G, it does not need to be changed. If it says
2G or 3G, or if it is very old with no label, it should be replaced. You can

does not show any 4G or 5G option, you will need to upgrade before the shutdown.

Will calls, SMS, data and Smart Dial still work?

They will continue to work if your phone supports 4G and VoLTE. Very old
phones that only connect to 2G will stop working completely. For newer phones,
calls will go through the 4G network and texts and data will continue as
normal.

Will network coverage become better or worse after 2G is turned off?

Over time, coverage will improve and feel faster and more reliable. Most
modern phones already use 4G or 5G. To make sure calls continue to work, your
phone needs a setting called VoLTE turned on. This allows calls to be made
using the newer network instead of the old 2G system.

I am often at sea or working on my farm. Will my phone still work after 2G is switched off?

Yes, your phone will still work if it supports 3G or 4G. Phones that only
work on 2G will stop working once the network is turned off. Newer phones
usually give better coverage and clearer calls when you are within signal
range, whether you are at sea or on your farm.

Why is Vodafone stopping 2G?

2G is very old technology. Vodafone is switching it off so that the same
network space can be used to improve newer services like 4G and 5G. These newer
networks give clearer calls, better security and a more reliable connection for
everyone.
