The Hollywood Reporter
(https://hollywoodreporter.com) 📸 Data Snapshot: May 30, 2026Classify each sentence as substantive or hollow. Grounding markers — numbers, currencies, dates, technical units, named entities — outweigh marketing adjectives. When fluff sits right next to hard evidence, the fluff is forgiven.
The site exhibits high substance, with body text providing granular data such as box office grosses (e.g., $23.9 million for Obsession) and specific multi-platform ratings from Nielsen and Comscore. Fluff is largely confined to the self-appointed brand slogan The Definitive Voice of Entertainment News which is repeated as an H3 across all pages. The ratio of specific nouns and numbers to power words is favorable, as evidenced by specific named reporters like Pamela McClintock and Alex Weprin attached to data-heavy news. However, the use of generic headers like Must Reads and Highlights from the Magazine adds a layer of template fluff that occupies prime structural real estate.
Information Density is read straight from the body copy: how much of the text carries grounded, checkable substance versus hollow filler. Below is the clean text the engine analyzed, then the industry’s known generic-claim patterns to weigh it against.
📝 The Narrative — clean text per page (the substance-vs-filler signal)

The final show on May 21 brought in 6.61 million viewers, trailing only a couple of post-NFL editions in Colbert’s tenure. The Late Show‘s final week clocked in at 3.95 million viewers, way above its season average of about 2.7 million as Colbert chatted with the likes of Jon Stewart and Steven Spielberg and provided his own answers to the “Colbert Questionert.” Following The Late Show‘s end, the debut of Byron Allen’s Comics Unleashed in the 11:35 p.m. spot (Allen is buying airtime from the network) drew 1.1 million viewers. Allen recently told THR of his talks with CBS: “I said, ‘Let me put that show there and let me buy the time period. I can save you $30 million-$40 million.’ They said, ‘Brilliant idea, let’s do it.’” [H2] STREAMING The most-viewed series and movies of the week ↑ Prime Video’s The Boys moves from No. 2 to No. 1 week-over-week as the gleefully violent superhero show’s fifth season ends its run. ↑ Apex, starring Charlize Theron, led the movie chart for a second consecutive week as The Devil Wears Prada moves from No. 6 to No. 3 ahead of the Disney-20th sequel launch of the Meryl Streep starrer. ↑ Running Point bumped up from No. 3 to No. 2 as the second season of the Kate Hudson-starring Netflix pro basketball comedy hits 900 million minutes viewed for the week. ↑ NBC drama La Brea is the latest show to hit the Netflix lottery as the series (cancelled in 2023 ahead of the labor strikes) finds new life on the streaming giant’s platform. SPOTLIGHT ↑ For the second season in a row, the biggest show on TV comes from Netflix, while CBS — despite a down year overall in primetime — had the most shows near the top of the ratings of any broadcast network. Cross-platform ratings for the 2025-26 season (or about 83 percent of it, to be precise) show Stranger Things as by far the most watched series on all platforms, as measured over 35 days of viewing. [H2] BOX OFFICE The highest-grossing films domestically each weekend ↑ Lionsgate’s Michael Jackson biopic Michael continues to defy expectations as it crosses the $321 million mark domestically for a global total north of $700 million. [H2] Big Number [H2] +39% [H2] Curry Barker’s Obsession soared to $23.9 million for the three-day number in its second weekend, a record-smashing increase of 39.4 percent over its opening weekend haul of $17.2 million from 2,615 theaters at the domestic box office. That’s the biggest spike in modern times for a movie playing in more than 2,500 theaters outside the Christmas holidays. [H2] Expectations [H2] The Way? [H2] The final numbers are in for the long Memorial Day box office, and they show Lucasfilm/Disney’s Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu opening to $98 million for the four-day holiday at the domestic box office, and $82 million for the three day, after traffic slowed somewhat toward the end of the holiday frame. In 2018, the ill-fated Solo: A Star Wars Story opened over Memorial Day weekend to $103 million domestically. [H2] BROADWAY The top theatrical productions each week ↑ Every Brilliant Thing broke a new house record as the show celebrated the end of Daniel Radcliffe’s run last week. [H1] Trailer Spotlight [H2] Disclosure Day [H2] Steven Spielberg returns to the UFO genre, which he first helped bring into the modern era with 1977’s Close Encounters of the Third Kind and continued with 1982’s E.T. The Extra Terrestrial and 2005’s War of the Worlds. (In theaters June 12.)
