Semantic Coherence: The League – Signal Evidence & AI Readability

The League

(https://theleague.com) 📸 Data Snapshot: June 19, 2026
Semantic Coherence — The Lens

Pull the main entities out of the H1, then check whether they actually recur through the body. A page that announces one thing and then talks about another drifts. Headings with no real sentences underneath read as pseudo-substance.

Semantic Coherence Homepage promise vs. Sub-page reality.
16 Impact Weight: 20 / 100
80% Reputation

Semantic alignment is strong across the pages. The homepage promise of a ‘selective and curated community’ is explicitly detailed in the FAQs through professional requirements and LinkedIn verification protocols. There is no disconnect between the premium signal on the homepage and the functional descriptions in the FAQ or Safety pages.

Semantic Coherence is read from the heading hierarchy first: what each page announces in its H1 and headings, then whether the body actually delivers on it. Below is the structure the engine mapped, followed by the clean text to check for drift between promise and reality.

[H3] Keep them that way. We're not saying the other apps don't have a use case (hello Vegas!) but why not spend your time a little more... intelligently?
Join The League
[H3] So you want to date someone with passion and drive?
Through our application process, The League has built a selective and curated community of motivated daters committed to finding a long-term relationship. Designed for busy individuals with like-minded standards, The League strongly believes that 3 quality matches are better than 100 bad ones. While your mother may call you picky, we call you self-aware.

[H4] Efficient Matching
Every day at Happy Hour we will give you a curated 'Batch' of profiles to review. We do our very best to only show you to people who meet your preferences, AND where you meet theirs, prioritized by people you actually have a decent shot at conversing with. We don't believe in wasting anyone's time here.
[H4] Balanced Community
An advanced screening and monitoring system keeps our community well-balanced, highly-engaged, and full of high-powered (and empowered) people who are ready for a long-term relationship. When you heart a profile on The League, your chances of matching and conversing are sky high!
[H4] Politeness, Not Games
Heart everyone but don’t ever message? You’re only hurting yourself, by increasing your flakiness score. This gets you deprioritized in the matching algorithm. Matched with a flake? We'll be the bad guy for you - we expire your matches after 14 days!
[H4] Safety First
Let us do the LinkedIn stalking for you! The League is committed to authenticity and weeding out bad actors. We use LinkedIn to help us verify accounts and screen out fakes in our effort to build a safe community full of real prospects.
[H4] Personalized Potentials
We always send you the best potentials for you, first. We believe in quality over quantity, and that smart (but finite) daily recommendations are better for busy people than an unlimited buffet of options.
[H4] Peer Review
Members of The League’s in-app community review and vote on applications. For the best chances of getting in, it’s essential to verify your account, optimize your photos, complete your ‘About Me’ section, and other profile information.

“In March of 2021, my friend Mike gave me a deadline by which I had to start dating again after a nasty breakup. I reluctantly downloaded a new app and half-heartedly perused options. I matched with exactly one man, put my phone down, and told Mike I’d met his deadline.” Read More

“We were both each other's first date on The League. Some time later on a trip to Bermuda, she looked at me with a big beautiful smile and said 'I think I’m falling in love with you.' I did not mean to disregard it at the time but I already felt I had met the one.”

[H3] Sean & Lindsey
“Our first date, we ran into more mutual friends than we thought possible and were astonished how we had never met. It just worked. It flowed. We danced. We kissed. We got lost. We never left each other’s side again. We’ve been all around the world together, started businesses, been to the Super Bowl, introduced new loves, and journeyed together in ways external and internal that are beyond imagination. Life is truly beautiful.” Read more

[H3] Alisha & Vivek
“In our late 20s, Vivek and I had reached a point where we were both moderately established in our respective career paths, but were ready to settle down and start a family. We both had tried several different dating apps with little success. We joined The League in hopes to find an educated professional in the D.C. Metro area who shared similar values. Finding each on the app felt like fate. We were polar opposites with equally opposite backgrounds, yet similar in many ways. He was also the only one who never lied about his height!”
[H3] Sarah & Will
“We were both busy professionals in a big city, and exhausted a multitude of dating apps before we found the League. I almost did not match on my future husband because I thought he was too good to be true! We had only been on a few dates before we went to a street fair together and my future husband got food poisoning. I spent the next day taking care of him and carting him to and from urgent care, in all of his gross glory. I knew in that moment that I loved him and he was the one for me, in sickness and in health.”
[H3] Jenna & Max
“Two distant pieces in a 200 million-count puzzle, we had both tried to connect permanently with others, to no avail. We agree though, no past relationship was ever a failure, per se. Each brought us steps closer to understanding our true selves. Once we met, both of us complete halves by that point, the connection was sublime.” Read more

“Nick and I have so much in common that he was suspicious at first! Our commonalities were uncanny, but our differences compliment each other so well- it’s truly a match made in heaven. I’ve always been skeptical of the notion of soul mates but it is like he was custom made for me.”

[H3] Ashley & Ari
“Not long after arriving in Houston Ari matched with Ashley on The League. The two shared their love for travel and soon began traveling with each other, making trips to London, Tulum and Maui together. After dating for about 2 years Ari proposed on a vacation in Santorini, Greece.”

“While The League verified each other's identity via LinkedIn, Stephanie still harbored doubts that she was being cat-fished, as Ashwin declared in his very first in-app message that he was in Jaipur when the app's location had him in Jersey City. After some persuasion, Stephanie agreed to a first date. What Stephanie expected to be a quick 30-minute meet-up turned into a 5-hour marathon.”

They we’re shocked, to say the least.”

[H3] From Goldwyn
My 2020 New Year’s resolution was to take dating more seriously. The year started with a couple of terrible dates and then COVID. Due to Rona, I had to resort to apps, which was an interesting proposition for a guy with a flip phone. Jordon promised to be my app guru and set up my profiles. Dwight said the type of woman I would be looking for would be on The League, but I’d have to be patient because the app took months to accept new applicants. I applied in August and was accepted in December. Lia loves to remind me that she was accepted in 3 days.
In March, I matched with a curly-haired woman who lived in Ossining (I’m a sucker for curly hair). Ossining was where I consid

We do our very best to only show you to people who meet your preferences, AND where you meet theirs, prioritized by the most compatible. We don’t believe in wasting anyone’s time here. How is The League different from all other apps out there?
We’re different because we take your search as seriously as you do. Our discerning application process keeps the community well-balanced, highly engaged, and full of high-powered (and empowered) people committed to finding love.
At the League, we provide a highly curated experience where members are introduced to a limited daily number of high-potential matches, leading to IRL connections and onto a meaningful relationship.
Over half of League members went to top 40 colleges, 30% have advanced degrees, and a quarter are in Executive or Director roles in their professions. The League strongly believes that three quality matches are better than 100 bad ones. So keep those standards sky-high— because a Leaguer would rather be single than settle.
What regions do you operate in?The League is available across the United States in most metropolitan cities. Outside of the US, you can find The League in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, England, Ireland, Germany, France, and most other large metropolitan regions in Europe. The League is also available in many of the largest cities worldwide. How does matching work on The League?
Ah, the all-powerful League matching algorithm. Wondering how it works and how you can make it work best for you? Let’s review:
Every day at Happy Hour (5pm local time), you’ll receive profiles to review on the Scout tab. We do our very best to only show you to people who meet your preferences, AND where you meet theirs, prioritized by those with whom we think you will have the highest compatibility–we don’t believe in wasting anyone’s time! The number of potentials you see daily is calculated primarily based on your subscription tier. Still, that number is also dependent on the size of our community in your area as well as your preferences.
Behavioral data and years of experience creating successful matches allow The League to make additional recommendations for you based on more than just your preferences. For example, set a goal to become Pickleball World Champion? You just might find your practice partner and soulmate in your next Batch based on that shared goal.
In an ongoing effort to foster a highly engaged community, a user who likes everyone but never messages will be deprioritized in the matching algorithm. This lack of communication on the app will also impact your flakiness score, and ‘Flakes’ will eventually get kicked out! On the other hand, users who log in daily have a higher match rate, so check the app often.
So now that you know how the algorithm works, how can you get more matches? First, make sure you have a complete profile and 6 high-quality photos. Your first photo is your first impression, so make sure it’s your best one!
Next, be open-minded. Your height/age/distance preferences may be causing you to filter out ‘THE ONE,’ not to mention narrowing your dating pool. We recommend being as inclusive as possible. And the more people you like, the higher your chances of matching.
How can I send you feedback about the app or your policies?Your feedback is central to building a better League experience! If you think something’s missing or we could do something better, let us know at [email protected]How do I report a bug I think I spotted in the app?We do our best to provide you with the smoothest League experience possible, but every now and then, a bug finds its way into the app. If you find one that can be captured in a screenshot, please take one! Then head to the Settings page in the app and scroll down to the button labeled ‘report a bug’ and email us a description of what you observed along with any screenshots you could get. We’ll look into it and send you a response with our thanks (and hopefully a solution!) as soon as possible!Where should I send my press or PR request? We love talking to the press! Our mission will reshape the future of relationships, and we’re excited to tell the world. If you have a press or PR inquiry, please contact us at [email protected]!

Alternatively, we offer Doximity, an edu email verification, or corporate email address verification as alternate authentication methods.

I have a ton!Nope – we do not collect your contacts’ email addresses or other personal information, so we will not notify them that you’ve signed up for The League or contact them for any other reason. Can people on LinkedIn see that I'm using The League? No way. Our core tenet is helping our users keep their work life and personal lives separate. Why we share across Match Group companies
To support daily business and technical operations
Operating The League involves a lot of daily business and technical operations, including hosting data securely, providing you with good customer care support, operating advertising and marketing campaigns, understanding what users like or dislike about our services so we can make them better, performing research and development, facilitating payments, managing revenue and accounting, fighting against spam, abuse, fraud and similar harmful behaviors, legal support and others. We share information about you with affiliated Match Group companies so they can help us perform some of these daily operations as our service providers.
To help keep you and others safe
We share and receive information about you with/across Match Group companies to aid us in our efforts to keep you safe. This enables us to do things like:
Investigate, identify and take action against (e.g. ban) fake accounts, spam, abuse, fraud and other wrongdoings across Match Group services.
Identify and combat potential discrimination or bias, by improving our ability to check the design and usage of Match Group services against discriminatory or biased outcomes.
Work with law enforcement when we suspect things such as fraud or harmful or illegal activity, or to help prevent death or imminent bodily harm.
To personalize your experience on Match Group services (where and as allowed by applicable law)
If you’re using more than one Match Group service, sharing your information with other Match Group companies allows us to personalize your experience on Hinge and across these services. This personalization includes, for example, the prices and discounts you’ll experience on the Match Group services you use. For instance, the prices and discounts you may see for our service may vary, based on the fact that you also use another Match Group service or used a paid feature on that other service.
To understand how people use Match Group services
Sharing information helps us understand how people use Match Group services, for instance by more accurately counting the number of unique registered, active or paid users across Match Group services, how many Match Group services they use on average, how people go from one to the other, and how usage patterns might differ.
Ban and Content Removal Appeals
If your account has been banned or you have had content removed from The League, but you do not believe you have violated our Terms of Service or Guidelines, you can submit an appeal directly through the form linked below.
We’ll only review appeals that provide all of the required information and are submitted directly through this designated form. Please note, multiple appeal submissions will not be considered and may alter your position in the queue. Please click HERE to access The League’s appeals form.
How are my exchanges with other users processed by The League?
Keeping you safe is and will always be a top priority. We use automated tools to scan interactions like messages and video calls solely for indications of harmful or illegal behavior.
Our trained agents may review interactions that are flagged by our automated tools or in response to a user report. We may use these examples to train our technology to improve our ability to find and remove similar content.

Automated decision-making and Profiling at The League
Your privacy and safety is the top priority of The League. It is at the core of the way we design and build the services and products you know and love, so that you can fully trust them and focus on building meaningful connections.
As part of our commitment to transparency in the way we process your information, we explain here what profiling is, why it is at the heart of our service and how you benefit from it.
What is automated decision-making and profiling?
Various privacy laws in the US and around the world address automated decision-making and profiling. For example, Europe’s data protection framework, the General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”), provides the following definitions:
– Automated individual decision-making: making a decision about an individual solely by automated means (i.e., using computers and algorithms only, without any human involvement in the decision-making process);
– Profiling: evaluating certain things about an individual, including interests, preferences or behavior, through an automated processing of personal data (e.g., using computers and algorithms to determine someone’s interests based on his or her online behavior).
How does The League use automated decision-making or profiling?
Automated decision-making and profiling are invisible features that are at the core of the services you know and love, upon which we constantly improve and without which we would be unable to help you build meaningful connections. The League uses these features for the following reasons:
– To help connect you with other great The League members.
We use the information you and other members of The League community provide us directly or through your use of our service (including, for example, age, gender, location, interests, your preferences, and who you like, skip, or match with) to power our proprietary matching algorithm and recommend compatible people to you. We use the same process to recommend you to other users.
Of course, you can also always change your discovery settings to filter profiles which are shown to you on The League.
– To promote safety and security.
We use automated decision-making and profiling as part of our moderation efforts (for example, removing bots), as well as to promote the safety and security of our users by making it easier to prevent illegal and unauthorized actions from happening and to swiftly and efficiently detect and fight those actions when they happen.
This processing may lead to suspension or account closure for users who are reported or found to engage in illegal or unauthorized activities, both on and off our services, without prejudice to other legal actio

[H4] Verification Badges
Prior to meeting someone in person we encourage you to verify the person as much as possible. Verification Badges are a great place to start, as the more a user has, the more confident you can feel in the authenticity of their profile.
[H4] Communicate on app
Keep your conversations on the app while you’re getting to know someone. Users with bad intentions often try to quickly move the conversation off-app to text, messaging apps like What’s App, email, or phone.
[H4] Reference Checks
Inquire about a prospective date’s behavior through mutual friends/connections and by checking google search and social media to make sure a match is who they say they are. You can also conduct your own third-party background check prior to meeting offline using a third party service like Checkr.
[H4] Meet virtually first
Before meeting in person, “meet” virtually using The League’s Video Chat feature from the Messages tab. You’ll be able to verify your prospective date does in fact match their profile picture and to get a better feel for their personality.

[H4] First Date Safety 101
The first time you meet, make sure it’s in a public place. Tell somebody close to you your date’s name, what you’re wearing, where you’re going, and when—and that you’ll contact them once you’re safely home afterward. Be in control of your transportation and have a backup plan such as a ride-share app or a friend to pick you up.
[H4] Trust your instincts
It’s okay to politely leave the date early if you’re feeling uncomfortable. In fact, it’s encouraged. If your instincts are telling you something is off, or you feel unsafe, leave immediately. If need be, ask for help from the restaurant staff or those working within the vicinity of your date place.
