We are lucky to have such a beautiful green belt so close to our capital. Rafting is an ideal opportunity to be among the pristine wildlife and plant life along the banks of the Liffey.
We recognise our obligation to respect this beauty and work to protect and nurture it. We allow wild-flower meadows to thrive around the property and on the river banks and even have beehives on site. We always strive to reduce our energy and resource consumption and use eco-friendly cleaning and maintenance products.

We had an amazing time rafting down the Liffey! I would highly recommend it, even for non-swimmers! The route for the classic trip is very idyllic, we saw cygnets, ducklings and smelt the lovely wild garlic growing on the banks as well as experiencing a few thrills going down the weirs on the route. The staff at rafting.ie were very helpful and the hot showers at the base were definitely a plus!

Cannot rate this highly enough. It was absolutely unreal craic. And aside from the the fun of pulling and pushing people in, the sights and getting a little bit of history of the Liffey Valley, Lucan and Castleknock is well worth the trip.

Rafting is a very popular Stag or Hen group activity with guaranteed fun for all involved. You'll feel a world away from the hustle and bustle of Dublin's nearby city centre as you steer your way downriver, negotiating 4 fast-flowing weirs along the route, surrounded by wildlife and picture-perfect countryside. After approximately two hours, you'll find yourself back at the Canoe Centre where hot showers and our and café await.

Our Rafts can cater for up to 7 people in each, where each member of the team have to work together to navigate the weirs, paddle as a group and work on a common goal. Rafting is a natural team building activity as everyone must contribute equally and it is a great means for colleagues to get to know each other or reconnect .

[H2] The Route

The adventure begins at our get on point in Lucan, which is approximately 15 minutes by shuttle bus from our base. The team with the help of our guides will navigate 4 weirs and numerous rapids as they wind through the beautiful Strawberry Beds and back to our base in Palmerstown. Along the way in the flatter sections of water, there is further opportunity for employees to engage in team building games

[H2] What you’ll see

There is an abundance of flora, fauna and local wildlife to be seen along the route. Herons, Kingfishers, Swans, dragonflies, Otters and all types of fish are regularly spotted from onboard our rafts. It’s not all wildlife however, the Liffey Valley is steeped in history. During your trip you will come across Shackleton’s Mills, The Hermitage Estate, Kings Hospital and the Silver Bridge.

[H2] What should I bring?

We have everything you need to get on the water in comfort and safety. All you need is swimwear for under your wetsuit, old runners you don’t mind getting wet and a towel to dry off afterwards. You are very welcome to wear your own wetsuit if you prefer.

We provide all of the necessary equipment and have full changing facilities, hot showers and on-site parking at our base in Mill Lane.

Our raft guides are all IRF (International Raft Federation) qualified and have countless hours of experience working on the river. Between this and our passion for sharing our love of the river our guests are in safe hands.

We use the very best of gear from Aqua Design and Palm Equipment to ensure complete comfort and safety for everybody who joins us on the water. Our Rafts are custom made with the River Liffey in mind. Stable, Sturdy and super comfy. Our Wetsuits, Cags, Buoyancy Aids and Helmets help to keep you safe and warm throughout the trip.

Our base at Mill Lane is a hidden gem. Standing on the banks of the river surrounded by green foliage and the sounds of rushing water it is hard to believe that we are only 7km from the heart of Dublin City. Your rafting experience begins at the Canoe Centre, where our team will ensure you're fully equipped for the adventure ahead. We'll provide all necessary gear to keep you safe and comfortable on the water. Once you're ready, a quick 10-minute shuttle will transport you to the starting point of your trip.
With the help of our guide, you will navigate over four weirs through the beautiful Strawberry Beds offering the thrill of adventure, surrounded by the serene beauty of nature and a view of Dublin like no other!.
