Information Density — The Lens

Classify each sentence as substantive or hollow. Grounding markers — numbers, currencies, dates, technical units, named entities — outweigh marketing adjectives. When fluff sits right next to hard evidence, the fluff is forgiven.

Info Density Power-words vs. Substance ratio.
28 Impact Weight: 30 / 100
93% Reputation

Information density is exceptionally high for a consumer brand. The site avoids generic power words in favor of specific nouns like oxalic acid and rhubarb, and cites exact historical dates (1882) and locations (Indianapolis). The body text provides technical instructions rather than vague promises, with a low ratio of marketing fluff to specific application data.

Information Density is read straight from the body copy: how much of the text carries grounded, checkable substance versus hollow filler. Below is the clean text the engine analyzed, then the industry’s known generic-claim patterns to weigh it against.

In 1882, chemist George William Hoffman discovered that rhubarb's oxalic acid could make tarnished cookware sparkle. He turned it into a cleaning powder for tavern brass rails. The results spoke for themselves, and we called it "Bar Keeper's Friend." Over 140 years later, we're still proudly made in Indianapolis. Our packaging has evolved, but our formula hasn't. Because when something works, you keep it.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How is Bar Keeper's Friend different from other cleaners?

Most household cleansers are alkaline and bleach-based. Bar Keeper's Friend is different, most of our formulas contain oxalic acidic, a naturally occurring ingredient found in leafy green vegetables like, rhubarb, which makes it significantly more effective at tackling rust, mineral deposits, and tough stains that bleach-based products simply can't touch. It's also bleach-free and contains no caustic ingredients, making it safer for the surfaces you use every day. In fact, most stainless steel manufacturers specifically recommend acidic cleansers over bleach-based ones.

What surfaces can I use Bar Keeper's Friend on?

A lot, actually. BKF works on stainless steel, cookware, porcelain, ceramic, glass, chrome, copper, brass, fiberglass, tile, grout, vinyl siding, and more surface areas found in the kitchen, bathroom, garage, and outdoors. Not sure if BKF is right for your surface? Check out our recommended products by Room.

Is Bar Keeper's Friend safe to use around my family?

Yes, when used as directed, our BKF Powder Cleanser is safe for food preparation and serving surfaces and carries an NSF registration, meaning it meets the standards used in professional commercial kitchens. BKF is bleach-free. We do recommend wearing gloves for prolonged use, especially when tackling the fun restorative projects.

How do I use Bar Keeper's Friend?

It's simple: wet the surface, apply a small amount of BKF, scrub with a damp cloth or sponge, and rinse thoroughly. One important tip, don't leave it on for more than one minute, especially on metal surfaces. A little goes a long way! For tougher messes, our Powder Cleanser lets you control the strength by adjusting how much powder you mix with water. More powder = more power.
