The word nursery suggests small but as the largest independently-owned plant producer and nursery in Queensland located in the fertile Lockyer Valley region on 150 acres, 40 of which is devoted to intensive plant production, Pohlmans is anything but.
First established in 1976 by John and Val Pohlman, the nursery is now operated by their first and second generations.  Members of the Pohlmans family can be spotted throughout the nursery’s operations from the germination process to the sales team. Our General Manager and Director Rob Pohlman can be found implementing new technologies with an aim to improve the quality and efficiency of the nursery’s growing process. Our family philosophy supports our wider community, providing employment for over 185 people during the peak season. The Pohlmans family remain passionate about all things planting – from the family veggie garden and cooking to all things home landscaping. We admire the beauty of our products and the fond family memories they help create.
Pohlmans offer the widest and most innovative product range including gourmet vegetables, fresh herbs, bright potted flowers, indoor foliage and trees and shrubs. We look beyond the seedling to the healthy, fresh and delicious lifestyle it inspires. Pohlmans are also the largest wholesale nursery on the Eastern seaboard, supplying a range of innovatively marketed quality plants to almost 1000 nurseries, garden centres and selected stores across Australia.

Over time the Pohlmans family passion for planting has not changed, but our technology has moved forward in leaps and bounds. The Pohlmans Plant Facility in Gatton, Queensland houses world-class machinery imported from all around the world. Combined with over 30 years nursery experience we only grow the finest quality plants from non-genetically modified (GM) seed to make your gardening as simple as possible.
Our Retail Nursery, which is open to the public, provides you with all the necessary information you need to growing your new plants. The nursery’s knowledgeable staff understand the ins and outs of each and every one of the Pohlmans 700 varieties. After all, our products are sown, grown and finally owned on-site.
Our retail nursery is open to visitors nearly every day of the year and our factory floor is available for tours and events at specific times. Contact us to find out more.
