Jody set up his driving school in Tunbridge Wells in 2009 and since then the driving school has expanded to cover most of Kent and East Sussex. Jody has held the top grade possible for a driving instructor since qualifying and his pass mark on his most recent "standards check" was a perfect 51 out of 51! Jody has personally trained a number of our instructors and we pride ourselves on providing the best service possible to all of our pupils.

The Jody Thomas Driving School has a number of instructors who teach both automatic and manual and who cover the following areas: Tunbridge Wells, Maidstone, Crawley, Crowborough, East Grinstead, Uckfield, Heathfield, Sevenoaks, Ashford, Crawley, Brighton and Hove, Lewes, Eastbourne and Burgess Hill.
We teach people of all ages and abilities and lessons will be specially designed for each individual so that your goals are reached as quickly and easily as possible.

Driving Lessons

[H2] Standard Lessons
We try to make lessons as enjoyable as possible whilst focusing on DSA approved techniques to get the most progress out of your learning. It's really important that not only are you being taught in the correct manner and with the correct methods but that you're comfortable and relaxed during your lessons. We know you'll be nervous, not just on your first lesson but also subsequent lessons, and so we'll do our best to relieve any stress that you may feel!
[H3] The First Lesson
On your first lesson, we'll first give you some info on the theory and practical tests before checking your provisional licence and performing an eyesight check. Then we'll give you an explanation of the various controls and vehicle checks that you'll need to perform before setting off. Once we've talked you through that, we'll spend a short time explaining how to move off and stop, focusing on observations and control. Then you're ready to go - we'll take things slowly initially and progress through the lesson onto gear changing and turning into junctions.
[H3] Subsequent Lessons
We don't believe in aimless driving - something we hear far to often from pupils at various other driving schools is that they're not focusing on any one skill in particular and so progress is painfully slow. What we aim to do is cover a new skill each lesson, whilst practicing and reinforcing skills learnt on earlier lessons.
We pride ourselves on our pass rates - we aim to get you to test standard as quickly and safely as possible.
[H2] Additional Services
In addition to lessons for learners we offer various other services:
Pass Plus
Pass Plus is a practical training course that takes at least 6 hours and is for drivers to improve their skills and drive more safely.
Motorway Driving
Currently learner drivers are not allowed to drive on the motorway, so it is essential you take some motorway driving lessons before venturing out for the first time.
Night Driving
Many people will have only taken driving lessons during daylight hours. Night driving can require some further skills which our instructors can help you gain.
Refresher Lessons
If you passed your test some time ago and haven't driven since you'll probably find you're lacking in confidence. Our instructors can help you regain your driving skills.
Parking Tuition
Do you find yourself driving around looking for a big space to park your vehicle in? We can help you to improve your confidence and skills when parking.

[H2] Prices and Offers
Prices vary dependent on area, please contact us for accurate costs. However, as a guide:
Prices for manual lessons range from £42 to £45 per hour and from £400 to £430 for a block of 10 hours.
Prices for automatic lessons range from £43 to £45 per hour and from £410 to £430 for a block of 10 hours.
Depending on your area there may be an additional charge for weekend or evening lessons. We also may be able to offer you an intensive course (dependent on area and instructor availability). Please contact us for more information and prices for this.
