Information Density — The Lens

Classify each sentence as substantive or hollow. Grounding markers — numbers, currencies, dates, technical units, named entities — outweigh marketing adjectives. When fluff sits right next to hard evidence, the fluff is forgiven.

Info Density Power-words vs. Substance ratio.
25 Impact Weight: 30 / 100
83% Reputation

The substance ratio is exceptionally high for the education sector. Specific nouns and entities dominate the text, such as citing the 2026 Tony nomination for faculty member Brandon J. Dirden and an honorary degree for Dr. Willis. While some H2 headings like Cinema is Everywhere contain philosophical fluff, the body text immediately grounds these claims with specific historical data and named institutes.

Information Density is read straight from the body copy: how much of the text carries grounded, checkable substance versus hollow filler. Below is the clean text the engine analyzed, then the industry’s known generic-claim patterns to weigh it against.

Performance Studies

[H2] Performance is everywhere — we study how it works.
What does it mean 'to perform', and what does performance do? Located in the heart of New York City's vibrant art scene, Performance Studies at NYU is dedicated to the analysis and study of cultural enactments of all kinds, and to understanding how they can produce meaningful change. Combining an interdisciplinary range of approaches including feminist, queer, and trans theory, race and ethnicity studies, and other modes of analysis, with an equally diverse range of research methods, Performance Studies offers graduate and undergraduate students the opportunity to explore and think critically about the world-making power of performance in theater, performance art, dance, sound/music, visual and installation art, activism, and online, as well as in the performance of 'everyday life'.
The Department of Performance Studies at NYU Tisch School of the Arts was established in 1980 as the first of its kind, and is ranked #1 for doctoral programs in Theater and Performance Studies by the National Research Council. Our B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. programs are taught by internationally-recognized faculty in fields ranging from experimental and protest theater, feminist, queer, and trans theory, dance studies, sound studies, performance curation, and race and ethnicity studies.

Martin Scorsese Department of

Cinema Studies

[H2] Cinema is Everywhere. Cinema Studies students engage with the moving image in all of its forms, on all its platforms, across the world. They pay attention to the margins as well as the mainstream. They are constantly experimenting with exciting new forms of research and scholarship. They are critics, curators, and creators.
During their time here, Cinema Studies students will hone their critical voice, develop a trained eye and ear, and practice in-depth, careful analysis of moving images. NYU’s Martin Scorsese Department of Cinema Studies was one of the first university departments in the country devoted to film history, theory, and aesthetics. Over time our focus has expanded to include broadcast television, video art, and digital media. After years of being steeped in an interdisciplinary, international approach, many alumni go on to careers in museum film departments, archives, and programming; journalism; or in the film industry as filmmakers, screenwriters, and editors.

[H3] Moving images, and the sounds that frequently accompany them, matter in our lives — politically, culturally, artistically. Cinema Studies at NYU offers historical and theoretical frameworks to understand the resonances of moving image culture, especially in the fraught global context of the 21st century.
