?Brilliant Performances at ISA Athletics?Wow what a day we had on Friday! Athletes from years 3-6 were at the Xcel in Walton representing the school in the ISA London South regional athletics meet.Weston Green, were once again delighted to host the event for schools from the South East attended by over 300 children. All of our children were fantastic ambassadors for our school. They all ran, jumped and threw with all of their might. A special mention to some of our year 3s who were at their first ISA event. SkillQuest Engineers of the future...??‍♀️ Our SkillQuest theme this term is "Behind the Scenes" and our pupils have been exploring the hidden systems, unseen people, quiet processes and invisible thinking that make our world work. ? In Makers Quest, the children have transformed into design engineers, exploring how ideas are developed into successful products. ? During their Makers Quest session, they have studied the work of Sir James Dyson in detail, learning about his design process and innovative products. ? Then they set to work own product to solve a problem they have personally experienced.?The year groups who have taken part in the Makers Quest so far have bowled us over with their innovative ideas and creative thinking. ??Meet the Flour Babies! ??Today marks the start of Flour Babies week for our Year 6 pupils.As well as being great fun, this project requires our pupils to think carefully about responsibility and consider their flour baby`s needs as well as their own. While it’s hilarious to see our oldest pupils cradling bags of self-raising flour like precious treasure, this project is doing some serious groundwork for their personal development as they prepare for the leap to senior school.Here is why we love this project for this age group:? Developing Independence: For many of our pupils, this is their first taste of round-the-clock responsibility. They have to ensure their "baby" is safely minded during break times, matches, and music lessons.? A Lesson in Empathy: It’s a wonderful eye-opener. Carrying their baby everywhere helps them appreciate just how much care, patience, and effort their own parents and guardians put into looking after them.? Organisational Skills: simply having an extra thing to carry is an adjustment that requires some pre-planning and careful thought.? Creative Problem Solving: From crafting makeshift cribs out of shoe boxes to arranging a creche with classmates during lunchtime clubs, the children will have to work together to make it to Friday without any flour mishaps!We love this fun approach to building resilience and maturity before our Year 6s head off to senior school. Celebrating our Grandparents ?Over the course of this year, we have enjoyed a number of events aimed to help us connect with and appreciate our pupils` grandparents. ??‍?Towards the end of the spring term, we hosted a virtual grandparents assembly, where we enjoyed watching clips of our pupils interviewing their grandparents and hearing about their proudest achievements (spoiler: grandparents are VERY proud of their grandchildren!)? More recently, we have had hosted two opportunities for grandparents to visit the school and see the many wonderful lessons taking place first thing in the morning. We were overwhelmed by just how many lovely grandparents took us up on this offer, with some travelling for hours just to come and visit and see their grandchildren at their school. ? The children were so excited to show their grandparents their work and where they come to school each day.? We were thrilled to receive lots of wonderful feedback from the grandparents who took part in these events, including this excerpt from an email:"I was delighted to be invited ot the School earlier today and to look around. I was so impressed by all that I saw. The children were delightful and the staff were all so welcoming despite the disturbance to the lessons. I am only too aware of the pressures arising from the imposition of VAT on fees, the increase in business rates and employer’s National Insurance, and the cost of the teachers’ pensions. Over the course of this year, we have enjoyed a number of events aimed to help us connect with and appreciate our pupils]

✨Spontaneous, creative and collaborative play ✨When today`s hail storm forced us to abandon outdoor break time, these boys decided to put their engineering skills to the test and construct a mega pencil tower!??⚡Indoor play time is not something we relish at Weston Green, instead preferring to be outside in the fresh air in all but the worst weather. But today`s rather intense hail storm that swept in at break time forced the children indoors. Instead of screen-time, our pupils are encouraged to play board games, colour or read, or make their own fun. Today, these boys wasted no time in coming up with a fun team project to see how high they could build a pencil tower, utilising skills they`ve learned in many of their lessons including Science, Art and of course SkillQuest!Great job boys. Athletes from years 3-6 were at the Xcel in Walton representing the school in the ISA London South regional athletics meet.Weston Green, were once again delighted to host the event for schools from the South East attended by over 300 children. All of our children were fantastic ambassadors for our school. They all ran, jumped and threw with all of their might. A special mention to some of our year 3s who were at their first ISA event. ??Meet the Flour Babies! ??Today marks the start of Flour Babies week for our Year 6 pupils.As well as being great fun, this project requires our pupils to think carefully about responsibility and consider their flour baby`s needs as well as their own. While it’s hilarious to see our oldest pupils cradling bags of self-raising flour like precious treasure, this project is doing some serious groundwork for their personal development as they prepare for the leap to senior school.Here is why we love this project for this age group:? Developing Independence: For many of our pupils, this is their first taste of round-the-clock responsibility. They have to ensure their "baby" is safely minded during break times, matches, and music lessons.? A Lesson in Empathy: It’s a wonderful eye-opener. Carrying their baby everywhere helps them appreciate just how much care, patience, and effort their own parents and guardians put into looking after them.? Organisational Skills: simply having an extra thing to carry is an adjustment that requires some pre-planning and careful thought.? Creative Problem Solving: From crafting makeshift cribs out of shoe boxes to arranging a creche with classmates during lunchtime clubs, the children will have to work together to make it to Friday without any flour mishaps!We love this fun approach to building resilience and maturity before our Year 6s head off to senior school. Celebrating our Grandparents ?Over the course of this year, we have enjoyed a number of events aimed to help us connect with and appreciate our pupils` grandparents. ??‍?Towards the end of the spring term, we hosted a virtual grandparents assembly, where we enjoyed watching clips of our pupils interviewing their grandparents and hearing about their proudest achievements (spoiler: grandparents are VERY proud of their grandchildren!)? More recently, we have had hosted two opportunities for grandparents to visit the school and see the many wonderful lessons taking place first thing in the morning. We were overwhelmed by just how many lovely grandparents took us up on this offer, with some travelling for hours just to come and visit and see their grandchildren at their school. ? The children were so excited to show their grandparents their work and where they come to school each day.? We were thrilled to receive lots of wonderful feedback from the grandparents who took part in these events, including this excerpt from an email:"I was delighted to be invited ot the School earlier today and to look around. I was so impressed by all that I saw. The children were delightful and the staff were all so welcoming despite the disturbance to the lessons. I am only too aware of the pressures arising from the imposition of VAT on fees, the increase in business rates and employer’s National Insurance, and the cost of the teachers’ pensions. Over the course of this year, we have enjoyed a number of events aimed to help us connect with and appreciate our pupils]

✨Spontaneous, creative and collaborative play ✨When today`s hail storm forced us to abandon outdoor break time, these boys decided to put their engineering skills to the test and construct a mega pencil tower!??⚡Indoor play time is not something we relish at Weston Green, instead preferring to be outside in the fresh air in all but the worst weather. But today`s rather intense hail storm that swept in at break time forced the children indoors. Instead of screen-time, our pupils are encouraged to play board games, colour or read, or make their own fun. Today, these boys wasted no time in coming up with a fun team project to see how high they could build a pencil tower, utilising skills they`ve learned in many of their lessons including Science, Art and of course SkillQuest!Great job boys. ?Brilliant Performances at ISA Athletics?Wow what a day we had on Friday! Athletes from years 3-6 were at the Xcel in Walton representing the school in the ISA London South regional athletics meet.Weston Green, were once again delighted to host the event for schools from the South East attended by over 300 children. All of our children were fantastic ambassadors for our school. They all ran, jumped and threw with all of their might. A special mention to some of our year 3s who were at their first ISA event. In Makers Quest, the children have transformed into design engineers, exploring how ideas are developed into successful products. ? During their Makers Quest session, they have studied the work of Sir James Dyson in detail, learning about his design process and innovative products. ? Then they set to work own product to solve a problem they have personally experienced.?The year groups who have taken part in the Makers Quest so far have bowled us over with their innovative ideas and creative thinking. ??Meet the Flour Babies! ??Today marks the start of Flour Babies week for our Year 6 pupils.As well as being great fun, this project requires our pupils to think carefully about responsibility and consider their flour baby`s needs as well as their own. While it’s hilarious to see our oldest pupils cradling bags of self-raising flour like precious treasure, this project is doing some serious groundwork for their personal development as they prepare for the leap to senior school.Here is why we love this project for this age group:? Developing Independence: For many of our pupils, this is their first taste of round-the-clock responsibility. They have to ensure their "baby" is safely minded during break times, matches, and music lessons.? A Lesson in Empathy: It’s a wonderful eye-opener. Carrying their baby everywhere helps them appreciate just how much care, patience, and effort their own parents and guardians put into looking after them.? Organisational Skills: simply having an extra thing to carry is an adjustment that requires some pre-planning and careful thought.? Creative Problem Solving: From crafting makeshift cribs out of shoe boxes to arranging a creche with classmates during lunchtime clubs, the children will have to work together to make it to Friday without any flour mishaps!We love this fun approach to building resilience and maturity before our Year 6s head off to senior school. Celebrating our Grandparents ?Over the course of this year, we have enjoyed a number of events aimed to help us connect with and appreciate our pupils` grandparents. ??‍?Towards the end of the spring term, we hosted a virtual grandparents assembly, where we enjoyed watching clips of our pupils interviewing their grandparents and hearing about their proudest achievements (spoiler: grandparents are VERY proud of their grandchildren!)? More recently, we have had hosted two opportunities for grandparents to visit the school and see the many wonderful lessons taking place first thing in the morning. We were overwhelmed by just how many lovely grandparents took us up on this offer, with some travelling for hours just to come and visit and see their grandchildren at their school. ? The children were so excited to show their grandparents their work and where they come to school each day.? We were thrilled to receive lots of wonderful feedback from the grandparents who took part in these events, including this excerpt from an email:"I was delighted to be invited ot the School earlier today and to look around. I was so impressed by all that I saw. The children were delightful and the staff were all so welcoming despite the disturbance to the lessons. I am only too aware of the pressures arising from the imposition of VAT on fees, the increase in business rates and employer’s National Insurance, and the cost of the teachers’ pensions. ✨Spontaneous, creative and collaborative play ✨When today`s hail storm forced us to abandon outdoor break time, these boys decided to put their engineering skills to the test and construct a mega pencil tower!??⚡Indoor play time is not something we relish at Weston Green, instead preferring to be outside in the fresh air in all but the worst weather. But today`s rather intense hail storm that swept in at break time forced the children indoors. Instead of screen-time, our pupils are encouraged to play board games, colour or read, or make their own fun. Today, these boys wasted no time in coming up with a fun team project to see how high they could build a pencil tower, utilising skills they`ve learned in many of their lessons including Science, Art and of course SkillQuest!Great job boys.
