[H4] Welcome to McCrystal Opticians, one of Northern Ireland’s unique independent practices.
[H4] We are one of the first optometry practices in Ireland to offer effective ways of addressing visual stress, which is often associated with dyslexia.  Using the colour based systems of Chromagen and Intuitive Colorimetry, we also offer the SchoolVision Programme, which addresses the underlying muscular strains that exist within the visual system.
[H4] We’re also passionate about controlling short-sightedness (myopia). Over the past few decades, global myopia prevalence among children and adolescents has increased from 24% (1990’s) to 36% (2020–2023). They didn’t just treat us like another appointment slot — they took the time to answer my questions thoroughly and made sure each child had the right advice and fit for the glasses. Through his own personal challenges, Principal Optometrist, Noel McCrystal, embarked on a journey of helping individuals with visual strain.Having worked initially with ‘Chromagen’, a patented system of colour treatment, as well as acquiring an ‘Intuitive Colorimeter’ machine to open up all the possibilities of further colour permutations, we still observed a gap in treatment methods. Following further research, Noel completed a Diploma in ‘Schoolvision’, which investigates the muscular anomalies that exist both inside and around the outside of the eyeball, in an accurate process aimed exclusively at stabilising the dominant eye. In adopting this Programme, in conjunction with previous knowledge, the Practice has seen substantial improvements in a lot of patients.Click here to read more.
