Information Density — The Lens

Classify each sentence as substantive or hollow. Grounding markers — numbers, currencies, dates, technical units, named entities — outweigh marketing adjectives. When fluff sits right next to hard evidence, the fluff is forgiven.

Info Density Power-words vs. Substance ratio.

The site exhibits high substance in its clinical descriptions, listing specific conditions like binocular dysfunction, convergence insufficiency, and post-concussion vision syndrome. However, information density is severely compromised on the Eyeplan page by the presence of large blocks of Lorem Ipsum placeholder text, which represents a total absence of useful data. While the Eyeplan section eventually provides specific pricing (10, 8, and 11 Pounds per month), the initial filler text suggests significant content neglect. Substance is highest in the Advanced Eye Exams page, which details the use of Optomap ultra-widefield imaging and specific retinal coverage degrees (200 degrees).

Information Density is read straight from the body copy: how much of the text carries grounded, checkable substance versus hollow filler. Below is the clean text the engine analyzed, then the industry’s known generic-claim patterns to weigh it against.

[H1] About Stevenson Jones Opticians
Stevenson Jones has been an optician’s practice since the 1930s, though it has had several owners and names during that time. John Stevenson bought the practice in 2008 and expanded into the next-door building in 2019, doubling the size and modernising with a complete refit.
John has over 30 years of eyecare experience, having worked for another large independent optician for several years before deciding he wanted to own and run his own practice. His ambition to develop a unique practice that is both highly clinical and has a friendly, customer-centric approach, has certainly come to fruition.

[H2] Our team
John Stevenson is our owner and optometrist and is a fellow of the British Association of Behavioural Optometrists (BABO). In addition to running the practice, he teaches BABO courses and works with children and adults with brain injuries and other conditions.
Completing the team are Melonie, senior dispensing assistant since 2018 and Marie, dispensing assistant since 2017. Melonie and Marie are the faces of our customer experience, greeting patients, making them feel comfortable and helping them with anything they need such as choosing new frames.

[H2] Our services
Of course, we offer advanced eye exams. As an independent practice, we are proud of the fact that we take the time to give each patient a personal service. John will always ensure patients can discuss any concerns they may have and each appointment is tailored to the person.
As well as the usual optical services, we also provide a variety of solutions for myopia control. Shortsightedness is affecting more and more children, and it is important to treat it to slow progression and help prevent complications in later life.
Our contact lens customers can take advantage of our monthly direct debit scheme, while anyone looking for glasses frames has a wide range of brands to choose from. We have carefully sourced a collection of frames with our patients in mind, to suit a variety of styles and budgets. Melonie and Marie are experts at matching frames to faces and we’re confident we can help you select a pair of specs you love.
John and his team are always working to keep up with the latest advances in optical technology. By attending trade shows and setting aside time for regular staff training, they continue their professional development and ensure they are providing the best service possible for patients.

Myopia – What you should know
Myopia is simply the clinical term for short-sightedness; a condition where objects close to you are clear and in focus, but objects at a distance are blurry or out of focus. Myopia is caused by the eye growing irregularly. When the length from the front to the back of the eye is too long, the light doesn’t land correctly on the back of the eye, causing focusing issues. Myopia typically develops in childhood when the eye is still growing. While genetics plays a part, studies show that increased screen usage and time spent indoors is boosting the prevalence. It’s estimated that by 2050, roughly 50% of the population will be myopic. As it’s such a common condition, it’s important to

[H1] Advanced Eye Exams

As your local independent optician, one of our most important services is our advanced eye examination. Regular eye exams are important for everyone, even if you think your vision is fine and your eyes are healthy. Many eye diseases have no obvious symptoms in the early stages when successful treatment is most likely, so the advanced tests we do in our eye exam are necessary to check the health of your eyes.
[H4] What to expect
Our eye exams usually take around 30 minutes. Advances in technology mean that many of the tests we do are much quicker and easier than they used to be. This means we have plenty of time to discuss any concerns you may have and answer any questions.

We will of course check your visual acuity, using the letters chart that you are used to. We also do several other important tests, which may include:
Binocular test to check your eyes are working well together
Visual field test for your peripheral vision
Pressure test to check the pressure in your eyes
To give our patients the best service using the latest technology, we have invested in an Optomap machine for ultra-widefield retinal imaging. Traditional retinal photography captures around a 45-degree area of the retina at the back of the eye, but with Optomap imaging, we can see 200 degrees. This enables the optometrist to check for signs of sight-threatening conditions such as age-related macular degeneration (AMD), diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma and many others.

[H4] How often you should have an eye exam
For most people, we suggest you have your eyes checked every 2 years. National guidelines recommend children up to 15, adults over 70, and anyone with diabetes or glaucoma should have yearly eye exams. If you have another eye condition, the optometrist may recommend more frequent eye tests.
[H4] NHS eligibility criteria
Some people are eligible for free eye exams on the NHS. This includes:Children and young people aged under 16, or under 19 and in full-time educationAdults aged over 60.Anyone registered as partially sighted or blind.Anyone diagnosed with or at risk of glaucoma.Anyone diagnosed with diabetes. There are other criteria, such as being on Universal Credit, that also entitle you to free eye tests. If you are unsure whether you meet the criteria, get in touch and we’ll be happy to help.
