[H1] Grand Skeleton

With the DeWitt Grand Skeleton, the Manufacture revives its origins by developing a new movement with a strong and very «DeWitt» character, both in its aesthetics and its functions. For his skeleton manual movement, Jérôme de Witt wanted a clean and structured construction, allowing an optimal vision on the 195 pieces of the movement
The power reserve system is based on the satellite principle awarded in the Innovation category at the Grand Prix de l’Horlogerie de Genève in 2005 and is increased to 80 hours by a double barrel. The three-dimensional bridge that houses it is itself skeletonised, discovering the spiral that resides inside.
This watch also meet the very high standards of finishing that have always been adopted by the Manufacture: hand finishing, cremation, strapping, polished angling.

The first thing that strikes is the unique design of the skeleton dial of the new DeWitt Academia Endless Drive Racing where a worm, a reference to car mechanics, the favorite territory of inspiration of the brand’s founder, Count Jérôme de Witt, turns in its center. The curves of the screw in unidirectional motion denote an irreversible rotation that fascinates its observer and that imposes itself on him as an allegory of time. Both in terms of aesthetics and function, the piece fits perfectly into the DeWitt line of creations with an assertive and unique character.

As usual, the Geneva watchmaking house innovates and offers a rearming device that gives the helical screw an unusual movement, which is connected to the power reserve winding system. Specifically, the room has two degrees of freedom. As the power reserve of fifty-nine hours decreases, the screw turns on itself. When the barrel is reset, it slides along its longitudinal axis.

On the Racing model, the DeWitt team of designers wanted to give a resolutely sporty and mechanical character by removing the dial to allow you to discover part of the "engine" of the watch: its fully developed DeWitt 5050 automatic movement, Manufactured and assembled by hand, to give life to a piece with a very surprising look.
