Information Density — The Lens

Classify each sentence as substantive or hollow. Grounding markers — numbers, currencies, dates, technical units, named entities — outweigh marketing adjectives. When fluff sits right next to hard evidence, the fluff is forgiven.

Info Density Power-words vs. Substance ratio.
22 Impact Weight: 30 / 100
73% Reputation

Soap Media maintains a strong substance-to-fluff ratio, particularly on its Client Stories page, which replaces generic promises with specific metrics such as 63% More PPC Revenue and 216% More First Page Keywords. However, heading fluff is present in the form of brand-aligned puns like Soaperior Partners and Soaperstars which, while creative, offer lower information density than specific results-oriented headers. The body text across the homepage and blog avoids the standard ‘marketing word salad’ by referencing specific methodologies like PRINCE2 Agile and Radical Candor. Only minor points were lost for concept repetition regarding their Partner in Digital value proposition.

Information Density is read straight from the body copy: how much of the text carries grounded, checkable substance versus hollow filler. Below is the clean text the engine analyzed, then the industry’s known generic-claim patterns to weigh it against.

Giving back and growing as a leaderFrom job hunting to thriving in agency lifeReal conversations that build confidenceLeadership isn’t a titleWhat mentoring really looks likeAuthenticity and personal brandWhy this matters to usEncouraging others to get involvedYou’ve probably noticed by now, but we love to talk about all things digital and keep you up to date with what’s going on in the wider digital community. However, we take even more pleasure (if that’s possible!) in actively investing in that community, including by being a partner of Manchester Digital.
Our Operations Director, Paige, recently took part in the Digital Her MentorHER programme, and we couldn’t be prouder of her! This great initiative is designed to support women who are right at the beginning of a tech career, helping them to build confidence, direction, and a strong network within this rapidly evolving industry.
For Paige, this wasn’t only a chance to give back, but also a golden opportunity to grow as a leader. We sat down with her to find out more…
[IMG: MentorHER Programme Banner]
[H2] Giving back and growing as a leader
Paige has looked up to other women in digital media throughout her career. She has risen very quickly in the agency world. She started out as a Social Media Executive and has risen to our Board of Directors in just six years. To say that she’s “integral” would be an understatement! However, she’s been inspired by other people in digital every step of the way, and has learned a great deal from their experience and leadership.
However, in that short time, she’s also built a broad skillset. Her remit spans digital marketing, UX design, project management, and leadership, and she’s also had formal training in areas like PRINCE2 Agile and productivity methodologies.
Simply put, Paige has a lot to offer and just as much to share. Therefore, becoming a mentor really felt like the natural next step in her career. She’s driven by a desire to empower others to be the best they can be, whilst also being fulfilled and enjoying a healthy work-life balance. She’s already swept to seniority and success herself, so MentorHER is a chance to support someone who’s just setting out on their journey.
I’ve always wanted to mentor someone. I’ve taken so much from other people in the industry, and it felt like the right time to give that back.
Never one to tread water, Paige also saw the programme as an opportunity to further hone her own leadership skills, which is something that directly benefits both her and our wider team.
[H2] From job hunting to thriving in agency life
Paige already gives informal mentoring in her day-to-day role. However, she was particularly looking forward to supporting someone in a one-to-one capacity. At the start of the programme, she was paired with a recently graduated UX designer. This designer was still searching for her first role and was eager to make her mark. Having entered agency life fresh out of university herself, Paige was perfectly placed to be a meaningful mentor (and offer some UX know-how too!).
The partnership got off to a promising start. Early sessions focused on navigating the job market, reviewing job descriptions and interview tasks, and sharing honestly about the nitty-gritty of agency life.
Shortly after their first session, Paige’s mentee promptly secured a role in a digital agency!
That moment really brought home how impactful mentoring can be. We were able to move from job hunting into real, practical conversations about agency life.
So… job done?
Not quite!
After celebrating that early win, their subsequent conversations evolved. They discussed everything from managing client relationships to understanding agency operations. Because agency life is a constant rollercoaster, there was also a particular focus on building (and maintaining) confidence in an environment that sometimes makes you feel like you’re trying to stand on shifting sands.
[H2] Real conversations that build confidence
As the programme progressed, the mentoring sessions tended to become more reflective, looking back in order to stride forward towards long-term growth.
Communication was a key area to explore. Paige would tell you that there’s a definite art to professionally and constructively asking for clarity, better briefs, and direction, so she was keen to pass on the nuances! She and her mentee also discussed how framing conversations in terms of time, resources, and impact can help to communicate more effectively with senior agency stakeholders.
Visibility was another recurring theme. Paige encouraged her mentee to get stuck in and not be shy about putting herself forward. The goal was to join in with meetings – both client-facing and internal – and learn by doing! This was something that her mentee embraced right from the get-go, and her experience and confidence soared as a result.

[H2] Leadership isn’t a title
Over the course of the programme’s workshops and sessions, one message stood out particularly clearly: leadership is not defined by a job title.
Instead, leadership is reflected in how you communicate, how you support others, and how you show up in everyday moments.
This lesson was very close to Paige’s heart. It’s closely aligned with the principles that you’ll find in Kim Scott’s Radical Candor philosophy, which has served as something of a guiding light throughout her career. The idea that strong leadership comes from caring personally while challenging directly resonated strongly with her, not just in terms of mentoring, but also when it comes to leading teams within an agency.
[H2] What mentoring really looks like
Just as it was invaluable to dispel any false notions about leadership, one of the biggest takeaways from MentorHER concerned a proper definition of mentoring itself.
Contrary to what some people think, mentoring isn’t about having all the answers or solving every problem. Instead, it’s about:
Listening without judgement.
Sharing experience, not instructions.
Asking the right questions.
Helping someone find their own path.
It’s very much a two-way relationship, and this is why even as Paige supported her mentee, she also found herself learning, reflecting, and growing through the process.
Hearing my mentee talk through challenges reminded me that many of the things we face early in our careers don’t disappear; we just learn how to navigate them better. It was a reminder that we’re not alone in those experiences.
[H2] Authenticity and personal brand
Personal brand and visibility presented another fantastic area for learning.
However, you can forget any ideas about self-promotion! Personal brand was instead reframed as something much simpler: your reputation. It’s about what people know you for, how you make yourself available, and the enduring consistency of your actions.
For both Paige and her mentee, the takeaway was clear. Being visible doesn’t mean being the loudest person in the room. It means being intentional, authentic, and a consistent contributor.
[IMG: Mentors and mentees on the MentorHER Programme]
[H2] Why this matters to us
Paige would be the first to tell you that she benefited hugely from the MentorHER programme. However, experiences like this go way beyond counting individual blessings and actually strengthen our industry as a whole.
At Soap Media, supporting initiatives like this goes hand in hand with our values. It’s part of our commitment to:
Investing in people and their careers.
Contributing to a more inclusive and supportive industry.
Sharing knowledge and experience beyond our own team.
If you’ve read this far, then you’ll understand that mentoring plays a key role in all of this. It’s empowering: building confidence, creating opportunities, and helping shape the next generation of digital talent. It also teaches us that even when we “make it”, the job is only just beginning. There’s always more to give!
[H2] Encouraging others to get involved
For anyone out there who has an interest in becoming a mentor, Paige’s advice to you is simple: you don’t need to have all the answers.
What really matters is showing up, being honest, and simply being willing to share your experience with someone who wants to listen.
MentorHER is built on the idea of paying it forward, and the impact of that can be significant for mentees and mentors alike.
As partners of Manchester Digital, we’re really proud to support programmes like MentorHER and encourage others in the industry to throw themselves in and get involved. After all, when we support each other, we all move forward.
Over to you!

🧭 Industry Context — common generic-claim patterns in Marketing, SEO & Advertising Agencies to weigh the text against
Generic Claims: we grow businesses, results that speak for themselves, your marketing partner, proven track record, trusted by leading brands, we increase your revenue…
Red Flags: guaranteed rankings or specific position promises, case studies with no client names or metrics, proprietary tools that are rebranded free tools, results claims without timeframes or baselines, partner badges without verifiable partner directory listing, every service offered by a small team with no specialists…
Semantic Drift Patterns: homepage claims data-driven but case studies show no metrics, claims full-service but team is three people, homepage targets enterprise but case studies are local businesses, claims proprietary methodology but describes standard practices, ROI focus on homepage but portfolio shows vanity metrics only…
Proof Expectations: named client case studies with before-and-after metrics, specific revenue or traffic numbers achieved, verified vendor partnerships with tier levels, team member profiles with specific expertise and career history, portfolio with named clients and campaign details, third-party ratings on Clutch, G2, or Google…
